| If Charlie Brown can say Good Grief it must be fine.

| I would not allow my kids to say Oh My God, but probably would have allowed Oh My Goodness. I never really did hear either phrase coming from them, but I do hear "O.M.G!" A LOT. Even though we adults know the the letters have words behind them, whether it be God, Goodness, or Gosh, the kids I know think O.M.G is a word of it's own and I rarely hear a kid use the long form of those letters.

| Ok, so everyone agree's it is ok to use that phrase. SO...if your kid was to say "Oh My God" or "Oh My Gosh"...would you tell them "don't say that, instead you should say "Oh My Goodness". or would you just flat out tell them not to say it...and not offer an alternative???

| I use "good grief" often and people have no idea what I mean. Forgot that I picked it up from Charlie Brown. ![]() How about "Holy Cow!"? (Holy s***) Chicago Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray made that one his trademark exclamation for homeruns. |

I admit, I say oh my God a lot. I don't mean it in a degrading way or anything, it's just what comes out when I'm either shocked, or whatever. I don't understand what's bad about saying it? If someone could fill me in lol.

| Oh okay. I am a Christian... I just never took offense to the saying or realized the big deal. I guess it makes sense though.

| YT 1000 Club Member | I don't let my son use it as I couldn't use it when I was young either. I just think it is disrepectful. I do use holy cow alot...if I get hurt holy s**t might slip out but I try not to let it.

| We are Christian, and we do not allow "oh my God", it is taking the Lords name in vain! I agree it is also disrespectful. They can absolutely say gosh or goodness. I, with some of the others don't understand what could be wrong with that.

| Funny story: When my kids were little and I only had the 2 older ones. One was 4 and one was 3. Well I drop my son off at preschool and now I am driving home with my daughter. She is playing some sort of hand held game. She says, "oh my goodness" Then she says, " Mommy I'm allowed to say Oh my goodness?" I said yes that's fine. She says, " Better than oh s**t mommy". Well I almost ran off the road. Where ever did she hear that from!??? I said," yes much better"So Oh my goodness is fine to say. hehe

| Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | I have no problem saying "oh my god" or anyone else saying it, everyone I know says it. I think it depends where you come from, as where I live this has never been an issue. Maybe people here arn't as religious as in other parts of the world, or maybe they dont think it is blastphemy. Either way I have no problem with saying either of these sayings, but if I thought it would offend or upset someone then of course I wouldn't say it.
