| ![]() Sounds like thyroiditis to me...I had T3 toxicosis...hives...tachycardia. They caught mine at a very early stage of Graves Disease. Burned my thyroid out and am now doing very well, hypothyroidism is much easier to treat with thyroid replacement therapy. Sure hope that is all it is with your husband. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

| ![]() Its 1 step forward-2 steps back. Hubby did pretty good until this evening. His blood pressure is going up (169/97) and he's having a lot of palpitations. They gave him meds, but arent working. I think they need to increase them and see how that works. They were talking about discharging him and continue treating/testing as an outpatient. They said home health could come give him his injections in his stomach, but I dont feel comfortable with this with the new development of hypertension. He will only need the injections for a short period of time so why cant they keep him another day or two and continue to monitor him?? I dont like this sudden spike in his blood pressure. He has no history of high blood pressure. Even though his rhythm is normal, he's having a LOT of palpitations. |

| ![]() The injections in the stomach are likely Lovenox. It is to keep the blood thin. Since he is in atrial fibrillation, there is a higher likelihood of him developing a blood clot which could go to his lungs or brain and cause much damage. Usually they stop Lovenox after a week or so and start pills to keep the blood thin. They won't keep him in the hospital just to give him Lovenox. They will teach him how to give it or get the home health nurse to come in to give it. But I too, am worried about the blood pressure spike. This is sounding more and more like hyperactive thyroid. I hope they get it figured out soon.

| ![]() I can't believe they want to send him home and they don't have the results of the tests yet, nor have they diagnosed him. Home health doesn't send drs out and nurses just take the readings, etc. That scares me.
