The injections in the stomach are likely Lovenox. It is to keep the blood thin. Since he is in atrial fibrillation, there is a higher likelihood of him developing a blood clot which could go to his lungs or brain and cause much damage. Usually they stop Lovenox after a week or so and start pills to keep the blood thin. They won't keep him in the hospital just to give him Lovenox. They will teach him how to give it or get the home health nurse to come in to give it. But I too, am worried about the blood pressure spike. This is sounding more and more like hyperactive thyroid. I hope they get it figured out soon.
