| GM...we need more prayer!! Last night hubby's rash started to come back. He's been on steroids so they've started giving him Benadryl again. This morning his throat hurts and the rash is now all over his face. They look like really mean hives. This is what he's been getting sick with all along and what he was admitted with. Every time his labs go wayyyyyyyyy off by day 2 or 3. They drew at 3 a.m. but I'm keeping fingers crossed it was enuff to make them realize whats going on. I'm getting frustrated. I'm gonna ask if they've tested him for lupus. They said they were but nobody has told us anything regarding it. They better not discharge him like this. |

| I'm so thankful hubby was still in the hospital for the next go round with this. They started drawing blood last night when the rash came back. By this morning, those hives looked really p!ssed off!!! His muscles were hurting and he couldnt swallow cuz of the neck/throat pain. I was scared when I saw him today...he went down really fast. His heart didnt change rhythms this time though. The doctor brainstormed and came up with porphyria, a deficiency in an enzyme of some sort. His iron levels were really high so they decided to start withdrawing pints of blood a few hours apart in an effort to dump this extra iron. After the first one, he looked awful-very ill and in a world of pain. Four hours later, after the 2nd pint, within 30 minutes he was sitting up in bed and watching t.v. Now granted he isnt up running the halls, his rash is better (not gone) and his pain is tolerable. He's able to talk to me now when he couldnt this morning. I dont understand what prognosis he will have if this is indeed what he has, but I'm happy that they are getting somewhere. The hematologist is the 5th specialist to join this case. I'm sure they're on the right track now. |

| I am so sorry that you and your hubby are going through this scare. I was wondering if they have checked him for lyme disease. I am praying for you and your husband. I hope you get some answers very soon!

| He's been discharged, but without a definative diagnosis. They are still leaning towards porphyria, but the hematologist this morning said he's not so certain my husband had it. He said the tests are still pending. He has a thyroid test in the morning. Repeat CBC on Thurs or Friday and appointments next week with 4 of the doctors who saw him during his hospital stay. They said he may have to have blood dumps every few weeks to keep his hemoglobin and hematocrit in a good range. He was at high normal this morning. I sure hope they can put their finger ON it soon. I'm afraid of another flareup and I'm watching him like a hawk. |
