WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE TO FOCUS ON, HMMM?

Just read this quick, PLEASE:

One evening an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that was going on inside himself.

He said, "My boy, the fight is between two wolves." That certainly got the boy's attention.

"One is evil," the old man continued. "Anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego."

"What of the other, grandfather?" the boy asked.

"The other is good," he said. "Joy, Peace, Love, Hope, Serenity, Humility, Kindness, Benevolence, Empathy, Generosity, Truth, Compassion and Faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Do we all have such wolves fighting inside us, grandfather?"

"Yes," the wise old man said.

"Then, which wolf wins the fight?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Thank you Ann!!!

The tone of a post can be interpreted 20 different ways, just the way a sentence can be interpreted many many ways. Unless you hear and see the facial expressions, and tonality of someones voice, you will never know for sure what the exact tone is meant to be in the written (typed) word.

WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE TO FOCUS ON, HMMM?

[/QUOTE=Wylie's Mom;2943343]

I completely agree that yes we do see those things. Which is what keeps me coming back to read and learn. BUT as I choose NOT to focus on the other is the reason why I choose NOT to participate much either. To do so would only serve to feed that wolf in me. It does bother me though for the people who have come for answers and feel run off. I often wonder if a dog ended up in a shelter or worse because the OP wasn't able to take in advice because it wasn't delivered in a friendly manner. A spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down in the most delightful way!

When I first came to YT I was not treated so well by a few. I stood my ground about what I was saying and I stayed. We all make choices in life. I do not allow others to dictate who I talk to and where I go. And, just because someone says something, it does not make it so. If someone called me a pine tree, would I buy it? Of course not! So why buy anything else?

I am sorry, but I am not going to buy into that thing that people are being run off of YT right and left. If they leave it is because they wanted to. And, honestly, some are only here to stir the pot anyway....and there are plenty of them and they have a great audience.

There are some people on YT who think everyone has to play nice with people who are harming animals...be careful what you say and how you say it. Not something I can quite grasp. The animals don't have voices...WE are their voices and to pat someone on the back and play footsie with them while they harm one, then we are abusers as well imo.

Whether it be online or in real life, people voice opinions. Kids go to school and get picked on. There are those who run and say "oh, you poor darling" and feed right into that child's insecurities. Then, there are those who say, "why do you believe what another person says about you when you know it is not true?". Kids will continue to be victims if we tell them that they are victims.

Sometimes people are harsh on YT, but does that mean people have to leave? Again, they leave because they choose to do so. There is a lot of valuable information on YT. If you don't like a certain thread, leaving is only cutting your nose off to spite your face. There is an ignore feature on YT and I have used it more than once when I just didn't want to see what certain people were saying. I have some on ignore right now and have for some time. They are here and so am I. I did not leave nor did they when we disagreed.

Again...simply my opinion.

The only thing I take issue with is your comment on rescuing dogs just to kill them. I know that although they do try to save most of the dogs, euthanizing does happen occasionally.

The conditions that some of those dogs are in and the lives they have led. Euthanizing is the kindest thing, at least they are not suffering. There are worse things than death.

We would ll love to resuce all of the pet store puppies and puppy mill puppies, but in doing so, we are just making it so they can breed more, if there were no market for them, the breeding would stop.

It is a shame that we do not have laws against mills, but we don't, so all we can do is to encourage people not to buy from them.

USDA breeders are large commercial facilities, that run with the bare minimum of compliance to the codes. Codes that were developed for livestock, not domesticated pets. Those breeders look at their breeding stock as livestock, the get fed. That is it. Minimal care to keep them alive, food and water, nothing more and when they are too old or too sick to breed, they are killed, not euthanzed, KILLED.

Ditto what Bama said. I've added you to my list of favorite people. You too Misty.

I love that ignore list....it keeps me out of trouble.

If no one takes or gets these dogs, then what? We just keep killing animals to have population control? I know some folks end up with a sickly dogs and bills but honestly people, if you were pregnant and had a baby that was sick, would you just give up? People who come here as stated before already have the dog now, let's help them take care and keep them.
Just wanted to say, this was the EXACT reason why my mom was given up for adoption when she was born, b/c she was sickly and was thought to not survive. A bit off topic, but wanted to let you know that this does happen.

All of this is so true. Easy for people to say things...if they have not lived it, they have no clue what they are talking about.

This forum , as well as the internet in general, is just an extention of the people behind the screens. Some people have passive/quiet attitudes, some more aggressive/authoratative , and some can even be down right mean . But you can't change the way people will respond. It would be nice if everyone's true tone ( both good and bad ) came across clearly to us but since that isn't the case we have to try and read the intentions with pure instinct , which can be swayed by our own feelings , and since were only human we sometimes do feel hurt by someones response even if it isn't that persons true intention. . I hope most people wont be scared away by members new and old voicing opinions , because after all they are just opinions

Thankyou for speaking your mind, I agree with a lot of what you posted. Its a big reason why I have been MIA from this forum for the last year. I got so tired of the negative posting or answers to questions I didn't even ask and never getting answers to the original question. I do agree though that sometimes, as much as you want to reply to someone's nasty thread its better to let it go and find a good thread=). Someone always has something to say about something. Hope you have a great year.
