Default Update on Denise and Maddie

Denise still needs our prayers. Things aren't looking good regarding Lexi's allergies. Maddie is at their next door neighbors house and has been since last Monday. Denise's surgery is tomorrow morn. Here's the note I got from her this morn.

well I have bad news, lexi's rash was 75% better when she woke up sat. morning and completey gone by that night. so I was thinking on getting Maddie back in a few dayz instead of waiting the 2 weeks cause i'm going crazy without her. well yesterday we went to dan's dad who has a yorkie and guess what....when we left, out in the car i noticed her itching like crazy and guess what the full rash in full bloom w/ the welt look was back. i just started crying (without her seeing me) when home gave her a bath immediately and today is back to being 60 % better.

and i havent seen maddie since friday night cause my neighbor said after i leave she just freaks out whinning at the door, etc. runs around barking wanting out the back door as if to get to me. they said it was soooo sad. so sat. i tried not going over there to see if she would calm down and she did great. so i decided it was almost harder on her to see me. she did awesome for them on sun too. (acted normal) on friday night she was throwing a fit the entire night. (my poor baby)

so i'll give it a few days for lexi's rash to be totally gone and get her back and see what happens.

its not looking good and i can't even believe this. we've talked to the allergist and we just can't bare to put through having 3 shots a week as hard as it would be to be without Maddie in our lives after everthing has happened, Lexi comes first.

I don't understand why this is happening when we just got maddie back. you know how crazy i was during that time. Dan said maybe it will be better for me if this does happen cause i'll know she didnt die and go through all that and that she is being taken care of. I dont know.????? I'm just totally heart broken, but trying not to let lexi know it's cause of what is happening to her.

I'm totally freaking out and have cried all weekend. I just don't know what do to?

Please pray for me i need it.

I don't even know what to say. I can't imagine Denise and her family giving up Maddie. There has to be something that is different now; different shampoo, different food???? Perhaps if Maddie's hair was shorter again?

I know it seems cruel to put a small child through allergy shots, but is Lexi having reactions to anything else? I seem to remember Denise saying she has lots of colds, which is also a sign of allergies. My son started getting allergy shots when he was 5. The pediatric allergist was dumbfounded that our pediatrician kept telling us to wait till he was older. If he had started on his shots at a younger age, we could have avoided two ear surgeries, pneumonia and lots of other illnesses and tons of prescriptions. He started with shots (two in each arm, twice a week) for the first six months, then went to once a week for another year, then to once every other week and eventually to once every third week. He was rarely sick once he started on his shots and he never once complained about getting them. In fact, he would say, "I think it's time to see the allergist, I can feel my eyes and nose getting itchy".

The added stress can't be good for Denise's migraines either. Sending my thoughts and prayers!!!!!

Thank you so much Connie for the update, even though it's not good!
There has to be something that is being missed! Go on line and do a search
on Yorkies and allergies. Maybe something else will show.
Poor Denise, Lexi and Maddie. I just can't imagine the pain to all three.
Prayer's still coming their way for another answer.
Good luck Denise with your surgery. It just has to get better after this.

Shaving Maddie down is not a big thing. I would try anything at this
point. I am sure your brain is about ready to explode Denise but it's
your time to take care of yourself now. Maddie is being well cared for
so just take time out for you and have a safe and successful surgery
and recovery. Wishing you nothing but good things.

This is almost too unbelievably cruel for words! Poor Denise and poor Maddie! They've both been on a rollercoaster ride from hell and it's past time for it to stop.

Thoughts and prayers in abundance for Denise and family. Here's hoping they can find something to get them all back together again.

BIG HUGS in the meantime ...

thanks guys for everything. i wish i could say more, but i'm almost numb....don't know what to think.

i did think about shaving Maddie down, unfortunelty Dans dad yorkie looks more like a mini pin its so short...you can't even really see much hair, its slick looking, so i dont think that will help.

i'll ck into the shots helping lexi being sick. usually until this year she was hardly ever sick. so don't know what is going on there. still even if we do go with the shots, i called and they said, even with the shots, she shouldnt have a dog or cat in the house. They said its just making things worse.

nothing has changed and nothing is different in the house. i havent even changed shampoos, conditions, treats, anything in concern with maddie, so i'm at a lost for words, and dan's dads dog dont get the same stuff maddie does so who knows.

when i tend to get down and depressed about all that is going on, i have to stop myself and realize there is always someone worse off.

who knows....maybe God has a plan, maybe Maddie was sent back to help the Althemizer lady next door ( she is in the early stages) Her hubby said the few days they've had Maddie she has brought life back into the house. I dont know what to think, my heart breaks. Believe me we will try everything in our power if this is the problem to find a way to keep her, but if it means jepordizing lexi, then she comes first.

just keep praying for me and the guidance to do whatever i need to do.

love you all.

This just breaks my heart after all they've been through!

I'm no Dr but like LuvMySissy (Jodie) said, wouldn't it be in the best interest of her daughter to get the allergy testing & shots? I think that they need to find out exactly (or the best that they can) what's causing it so that they can minimize these outbreaks for Lexie. I just can't imagine that it's just Maddie that's causing this. It's probably something that she'll encounter again. It's so hard to try to make a decision like this... but I'd hate for Denise to feel guilty about something that may be in her daughters best interest. I hope this came out right.

Please tell Denise that I'll be praying for them all!

Denise...perhaps I missed something, but are the hives the only symptom your daughter has? Usually hives in an allergic reaction...are something ingested. Food or drugs.

80% of hives are idiopathic...you will never determine the cause. Sometimes isn't any rhythm or reason with a hives outbreak.

It can be bad this morning....clear up...and then return all on their own without any relation to any stimulus. May be gone in the morning...may come back tomorrow. Scratching....makes MORE whelps. Clothes rubbing against them...can cause them. Stress can cause them.

If your daughter is not suffering from other symptoms...such as stuffed or runny nose, swollen, teary eyes etc...I highly doubt it's Maddie.

Good luck....

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. I know how hard it is to say goodbye to a beloved dog. You are right to keep your head up, even though it may be hard, everything will fall into place, everything is happening for a specific reason.

My husband had to take shots everyday when he was kid.....he had bad allergies to everything, but they told his Mom to keep their animals and he would adjust. Well, he can be with our dogs but, it bother's him if they are wet.....so he stopped bathing them and he is ok. Maybe you can ask a few opions about keeping Lexi around what is bothering her.......see if it will help her " out grow " it.

Good Luck,
Angie
