Okay, so I bought one...and I don't know if our floor was really dirty or what (which I know it was dirty because it was our day to mop)..anyway, it left horrible smudge/streaks on the floor!!

So, I think we will mop and then re-do it to see if it works better!

Jenn...I remember when I was researching the shark mop, that some said it left streaks the first, maybe also 2nd time, but after that it was fine. That never happened to me, but I'm thinking it has something to do with the type of cleaner you were using on your floor prior to using the shark. There's always some left on the floor and after a couple of times, it should be fine.

My Shark is still working well. I worried when I read Archie's post, but so far, so good!

I'm so glad I found this thread, I have been thinking about buying one. I have so many cleaning gadgets already, that I have been leery of spending more money on something else that might not work. I am almost convinced into buying one.

Yes! We love it!!

The first time, it did leave horrible streaks and we actually mopped the floor to get the streaks off. But, after that, it hasn't left streaks.

I need to "make" or buy extra floor pads though...it only comes w/ two...and that just isn't enough.

We use it all the time....wow! I have never cleaned my floor this often...I love it!

my mil has the H20 Steam Mop and I hate it!!!! All it did was push the dirt around, the idea behind it is great but it did nothing for me, unless your floor was already clean but then who wants to clean the floors twice?!?! I dont!!!! LOL, maybe the shark mop is better I need to research this!!!! Because i'm all about easy!

No, not if it's real wood. Real wood hates steam and could swell and buckle.

So does anyone know what I can clean my floors with? we just put them in our house and the only thing i have done is swiffer them and run the sweeper over them....ugh, i told him not to get real....men! (jk)

I was reading online about this, because I was also concerned about this - as I live in a 120 yr old house. Anywho - if the floors are sealed it says that it is safe

There are many things you can clean a wood floor with. There are lots of different products on the market that are safe. So much depends on what your floor is finished with. Care of polyurethane finished floors is different than that of waxed or Tung oil floors. Most new floors have a polyurethane finish and can be safely cleaned with a ½ cup of white vinegar in a gallon of water. I keep some in a spray bottle and spray the floor and dry mop it. No water should remain on floor, it should always be perfectly dry when finished.

A friend of mine just told me that the best think to clean hard wood floors is cold water and a little bit of vinegar. --she has three children, 2 big house dogs and a lot of traffic in her house from music lessons, etc.

Is the H2O Mop the one w/ the triangle head? If so, I thought about getting one of those, but the reviews were not good on it. The steam mop, the first time I used it, it left a dirt line along the baseboards that I just wiped up easily. The other times, it hasn't left any dirt lines. We vac all of our floors instead of sweeping, so I think that helps also.
