I have always spent and cooked for my three children and now grandchildren.
I had a long talk with them and deceided to go to my sister's for the first
time and spend the holiday with her and my BIL. She does not know Buddy
and I are coming. He does though. I'm just going to knock on the door
next Tues and say what's for dinner? We have never spent a holiday
together. Ever. We were raised in two different households and after
marrying just spent holidays with our families. Not this time. I can't
wait to surprise her.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

Oh I do have a nice recipe for Asparagus I forgot to mention.

Cook the asparagus for a few minutes. Ala dente so to speak.
Put them into an oven safe dish and in a mixing bowl put breadcrumbs,
crushed garlic (to taste) and alittle olive oil to blend. Spoon breadcrumb
mixture over asparagus and put into broiler until lighty toasted.
Enjoy. You can add alittle drizzle of OO before serving.

I am SOOO excited about Thanksgiving! I can't wait to PIG OUT! haha Not to mention that I have Thursday and Friday off of work..ahhh, it's going to be a great week! My boyfriend and I are going to his mom's house for a Thansgiving breakfast and then to my Aunt's house to spend it with my family. I don't have any recipes cause I don't cook..I leave that up for my mom and aunt..they're SO much better at it! Although..last year my 16 year old cousin cooked our ENTIRE meal and it was SOOO good!

I love Thanksgiving and I am cooking this year. We are ordering our Turkey from a BBQ place. They smoke it and its really good. We are also getting some bBQ pork. I am making all the sides except Macaroni and cheese were getting from there. Here is a spinach dip recipe I am making. Im serving it in a bread bowl

1pkg (3oz)dried beef chopped
1 pkg (10 oz) frozen chopped spinach
1 pkg (3oz) cream cheese softened
1cup mayo
1cup sour cream
1/2 cup chopped green onions
2teaspons dillweed
2 teaspoons seasoning salt
1 round loaf white or dark bread

Combine all ingredients except bread and chill. Slice a 1 inch top from the bread then hollow to form shell. Use scooped bread for dipping. Put chilled dip into the bread hollow

The recipies all sound so good. Has anyone ever had a Cajun turkey, and might have the recipe. I had it last year and it was awesome, but I lost the recipe.

Default Potatoes ~

The world’s best, and yes, most fattening potatoes. I serve these on holidays only, and yes, the men will be eating out of your hand to have these again, and they are sooooo easy. Serves plenty…

2 bags frozen shredded hash browns
2 cups onion diced
32 oz sour cream
2 sticks butter
16 oz grated cheddar cheese
2 cans cream of chicken soup

Spray large Pyrex with Pam, put in ingredients (I melt the butter first), and bake in preheated oven at 350, for around 45-60 min. or until brown, stirring every 15 minutes for the first ½ hour.

Default Ham sauce

If anyone is making ham, here is a GREAT sauce recipe ~

Ham Sauce

¼ C toasted mustard seed. (Dry toast until they turn grayish)
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2-tablespoon ground ginger
¾ C Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons light-brown sugar
2 tablespoons dark-brown sugar
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
3 tablespoons unsulfured molasses
1 can pineapple JUICE only, then use ½ can of the actual pineapple
A few tablespoons of ham juice

Mix everything together in food processor; simmer in small pan until hot.

We LOVE those but I have some allergies (MSG) and I try to eat all natural (although NOT low-cal! HA) I can't bring myself to use Campbell's Cream of Chicken to make these. Does anyone know how to make them using a cream sauce or any other way???

THESE were my hit last year:
Apple and Onion Stuffin' Muffins
Recipe courtesy Rachael Ray

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, 2 turns of the pan
1 stick butter, softened
1 fresh bay leaf, available in produce department
4 ribs celery and greens, from the heart, chopped (save time and purchase celery already washed, trimmed and cut into sticks, this makes chopping fast work)
1 medium to large yellow skinned onion, chopped
3 McIntosh apples, quartered and chopped
Salt and pepper
2 tablespoons poultry seasoning
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
8 cups cubed stuffing mix (recommended: Pepperidge Farm)
2 to 3 cups chicken stock, available in paper containers on the soup aisle

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Preheat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add extra-virgin olive oil to skillet and 4 tablespoons butter. When butter melts, add bay leaf and add the vegetables as you chop them, celery, onions then apples. Sprinkle the vegetables and apples with salt, pepper and poultry seasoning. Cook 5 to 6 minutes to begin to soften vegetables and apples then add parsley and stuffing cubes to the pan and combine. Moisten the stuffing with chicken broth until all of the bread is soft but not wet.

Butter 12 muffin cups, 2 tins, liberally with remaining butter. Use an ice cream scoop to fill and mound up the stuffing in muffin tins. Remove the bay leaf as you scoop the stuffing when you come upon it. Bake until set and crisp on top, 10 to 15 minutes. Remove stuffin' muffins to a platter and serve hot or room temperature.

I also use Alton Brown's turkey method.

I love, love, love thanksgiving and most especially entertaining . . . I always throw a party for Christmas as my friend takes care of thanksgiving but last year I did both thanksgiving and christmas since I had family come down from CA and it was a blast.

With my busy schedule I will not be doing any cooking at all this year (except for a sit-down formal dinner on christmas eve), so for thanksgiving am going to 2 One is a 9 course chinese dinner at around 2:00PM and the other will be a traditional thanksgiving feast at 6:00PM . . . yummmm-oooooooooo!

I have way too many recipes to even pick one to share but if anyone wants a specific dish, just PM me instead

Happy cooking everyone
