| Some people are not dog people and can't understand. I'm sure since you guys are good friends, she'll get over it eventually. Your comment didn't sound rude to me. |

| Yorkie Lover Donating Member | In my opinion, I think she was rude for even asking...our neighbor has a Yorkie and while we have talked about alot of things about them, how much each one costs has never came up...if she was really your friend she would not have asked that question, as you don't ask her how much her stuff she buys cost...if she wants to spend her money shopping that is fine, she is just missing all the fun of Yorkies!!!

| Why should it matter to her how much your baby cost? IMO I would much rather have a yorkie and care for it well, than a wardrobe full of new clothes. |

| It's no one business how much you pay for anything! I think she's just jealous you have the money to spend on a dog. I paid $700 for mine and everyone thinks I'm nuts! |

| You were a lot nicer than I would have been. I would have told her to show me what she bought with her $1000 in ten years, and I will show you what I still have. More love and affection than any ole bag. Right now my daughter (grown, with a family of her own, in a different state) is a little ticked at me for spending so much money on Maggie. I think she may be worried about her inheritance. You know what? Doesn't bother me at all. I love my Maggie, and Maggie unconditionally loves me. Too bad I can't say that about my own friends and family.

| No money in the world can pay for the love and joy we get from these babies, ppl that have never had yorkies wont understand, its their loss not ours, but i hope for them that someday they will get the privillage to feel what we feel

| Your neighbour was the one that ws rude! As for you, you were just standing your ground. She obvisouly doesn't understand the love and affection that these little guys can bring and she also sounds like a bitter old woman for some reason or another. Maybe she's see how happy and is jealous like someelse mentioned. As for her preferring to go shopping - good - she can go do that because with an attitude like that I wouldn't approve of her having a pet, especially a yorkie anyway!! She made me mad by saying that too. |

| I feel your neighbor was rude for even asking!! I don't go around asking them what they paid for their new diamond ring, or their new car or anything for that matter!!! I have clients of mine who asked me how much Luig was and I tell them --Enough!!! They usually just laigh!! But I hate when people ask how much!!! Its no ones business but ours!!! I was raised to not ask people about money and I wish more people were the same way!!! So- you reacted just fine!!! But next time someone asks you that question- just say Enough!!! Or if you really want to stir things up -- ask them how much their ring or necklace was!!! That will make them get the point!!!!

| Oh, sure! Of course, that makes a lot of sense! I mean, think about it! A new tv, six new outfits, a new pair of designer sunglasses and a couple pairs of new earrings make life FAR more enjoyable than a silly little dog. I mean, who needs unconditional love when you can sit at home in a fancy outfit watching tv! I bet with the leftover change you could get a mirror to admire yourself in! How awesome is that!

| I think she was very rude. But usually people will ask immediately, "how much did you pay for your yorkie?" I guess they really don;t do it to be mean but to see if they got a better deal than you that is just MHO.

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | People are curious and I never mind people asking me that question ....because I know nothing they've purchased brings a smile to their face every day. Ask your neighbor when was the last time she bought a big ticket item that made her smile for years looking at it ? |

My neighbor turned up her nose at Bo (in my house!) and said she wished every morning when she let her Westie out that the dog would just take off and never come back!!! I was horribly offended by that and it wasn't even my dog. I said "Oh no, don't ever say that! Your dog is 14 years old and has been a part of your family, is in great health and still looks great!" Well, she did back down after that but she didn't change her opinion. She wouldn't even pet Bo. People really don't get it and frankly I don't get why they don't get it!! I like the reply Ssgussy gave that you can't put a price on a family member and also Kim's reply that just gives a price range. Seems to me sometimes when people talk money they are only lookin for something to criticize. If she's a close friend then try to bring the friendship back to where it was. She's probably jealous that you have so much in common with the other neighbor now.

| You weren't rude at all! I would have been much more abrasive. What is it with some people?
