OK...well we are back from the groomers! She talked me out of giving Bonnie a summer cut...she said her coat was too pretty. She talked about layering it all over..but told me she didn't think it was what I would like and her coat would show all the scissor marks...so we just took some length off her coat, trimmed her face and legs and tail area...I like it. I was reading today that someone said that a puppy cut doesn't look that great on a yorkie with very silky hair. I was thinking about it and I think if they shaved his legs they would look like bald q-tips! His hair is very thin on his legs.

It did kind of scare me a little! LOL!!!!!! I love Bonnie's cut but I'm thinking of going even shorter! It's such a hard decision and I can't believe this is making me seem like a fanatic or something! It's like good cop bad cop. One side of me is saying Don't do it you're going to regret it! And the other side is go ahead and cut it all off! I need to come to some sort of an agreement with myself!

I would have gone a little shorter, but the groomer said with her type hair any layering was going to leave scissor marks and not look good and she didn't recommend clippers at all for Bonnie. I think she looks so beautiful and I'm glad she's not matting. Does she have very silky hair? That's what Brutus has but he still gets some mats and he doesn't wear clothes. I brush him everyday but maybe I'm not doing such a great job.

She is very silky and she got mats even when she wasn't wearing anything...and don't tell anybody...but I don't always brush her everyday...I know I'm a bad Mommy! The one good things is her mats do come out relatively easy...I've seen people on hear say not to bath them before you brush out the mats...well I always bathed her then sprayed her with ice on ice and brushed her out and it was no problem! My biggest complaint about her coat, besides the matting with the harness, was that she always looked unbrushed even when I did brush her. I can bath her and brush her out all pretty, but she shakes and it looks stringy again To me her coat looks more groomed this way.

They must have the same coat texture because I have the EXACT problem! He looks great right after a bath and for a few hours but then his hair looks stringy. It always looks like he needs a bath even after he gets one. That's why I can't deal with it and the matting anymore. He's getting mats close to the skin but like you I bath him, spray him and they come out but I noticed since his hair is getting so long we're getting more mats.

And if this is happening now what's it going to be like in the summer! I think I'll get something similar to Bonnie. Like you said if anything you could always go shorter.

Yes it does sound like they have the same type of coat! I think you will like it shorter. Her matting was under the front arms and with it being short now, I'm not seeing that as much! Good luck!!

I love your Yorkies flowing long hair & hes dark too a bonus....I dont think if I had him I would get him cut...on the other hand if he has got wiry hair,you know like a Sheeps coat ..like my Scamp does then I would get a puppy cut...I mean he knots up no matter how much I brush him
I do prefer the Silky coats much easier to take care off..
But yes I do love the Puppy cut
