I, knowing what I now know,( from being a member of YT since 2009) could never purchase ANY dog from a pet store.

It doesn't matter to me if they are pure bred,mutts,registered, unregistered, accidents or walked by and ended up in the cage by osmosis. I have learned a lot from this site and will put my $$$ where my mouth is from now on

With these beliefs, I can't support breeding these dogs either.....

And I would never purchase anything, toys, foods, clothing, beds, etc from a shop that sold pets. I will not support them in any way.

As to the subject of pups in pet stores coming not from a mill, but from an irresponsible owner----The issue still remains that those pups parents were not health tested, nor do they likely have good pedigrees. So no matter where the pups in the pet store come from, they are NOT good breeding material.

OP, you are going to do whatever you choose, and that is your right. Just please think about these things everyone has told you and look into your heart. Look into your pups' eyes Good luck to you.

Really? honestly? seriously? oh my, my, my....I'm speechless, I can only hope that you are both very young and as uneducated about the whole pet shop, rescue, puppy mill as it appears...and as I once was as well...I am not attacking you, I'm just stunned...I strongly suggest you spend some time here learning all about the topics we are discussing here...educate, enlighten..and pass it on...Please invite your husband as well he is just the person to help the plight of all Pet Store/Puppy Mill/Puppy brokered Yorkies and all animals...please...

btw: My experience Vet has posters all over her waiting room. Please take this opportunity to become an advocate for animals, including yours who were born to parents who more than likely are still living in deplorable conditions....

I don't believe her DH is a vet for one second.

Not to imply anything, to anyonethe specifically, but pup mills use vets all the time, for debarking, csections, flight health certificates, rabies vac etc.

Oh yes I am well aware that there are many UNETHICAL vets, just as there are bad apples in any field, sadly I met one such vet....and of course I went in his office and made sure everyone in it heard my story...(which one day I will share)...its just such a bizarre story...but I went all the way to the top with it...shockingly, his license was revoked...but I can't take the full credit his Vet Assistant did most of the work...

But I do know my current vet and all the Dr's. there feel the same way I do about the above...they would not ever participate....

Angelfaithwyngs, Welcome to YT!!! Your little ones are sooo cute and their names are lovely! I just love Yorkie puppies!

As you can see, this is a forum with many passionate and educated people. A lot of the responders have been members of this site for a very long time and have seen posts similar to yours a MILLION times. The fact is that everyone just wants to spread the word about the devastating effects of puppy mills.

Good luck with your new furbabies and please come back to YT to learn and share information!

Reminds me. I have a customer who bought a half yorkie half something from a co worker at 6 weeks. I asked why they got the dog so young. He said bc the owners wanted to get rid of the pups. Anyway, the pup at this point had the full tail and floppy ears. He told me he found a vet that would dock the tail and the ears!

This is another prime example of a very good opinionated conversation, hot topic that someone suddenly throws the "I'm being attacked" punch...tag team? those two? oh stop...if I didn't know any better I would think someone hijacked your user name...don't take anything personal on here, it is indeed a fact that pet store puppies come from 99% anyways, from puppymills...of course there is always the corner pet supply place that allows a neighbor that had a dreaded "oops" moment put their pups on sale in their store...but does that make it any better???? Can you imagine taking your babies that you have right now and giving them to some stranger in a pet shop to sell for you? Well many of us have been there and I am appalled at my ignorance at that time more than you will ever know....and so I go and spread the word PET SHOPS ARE SELLING PUPPY MILL PUPPIES THROUGH BROKERS, its a horrible, horrible business....please don't undershoot it, not here, not when this is a place that so many can gain the education and help us end this practice, please, please, please, don't...

BTW I know that your a wonderful person, and a loving Yorkie Momma, I've read your posts!!
