| Sometimes it hits a little harder when you actually see where your puppies came from, and where their parents are still living. I did not know of the huge problem until seeing an episode of Oprah on puppy mills in the US. 99.9% of dogs in pet stores come from puppy mills. I cannot find her particular episode on YouTube, but here is where your pups parents are right now : And believe me, I'm not a whacky PETA person or anything, lol. I can't stand PETA actually. This is a real issue in this country that definitely needs to be addressed. We bought a dog from a pet store, without knowing any better. A lot of people do, so I'm not crucifying you in any way! I just want to inform others, like I was informed. Another misinformation statement passed around is that getting a dog from a pet store is like resucing them. No it's not, because you are simply putting $$$ in their pockets, opening up a new spot for a new puppy to be sold, and the cycle continues of the parents being bred over and over again in a rotting cage.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Two Totally cute and adorable little squirts !! Welcome to the YT community, your right this is a great place to learn and find information about almost anything. It's a place where you can learn lots of great stuff from good people who want what is best for the well bing and health of any dog theres or otherwise. Plus you'll get lots of opinions whether you ask for them or not. You certainly have your hands full with those two beautiful little Yorkies and I wish you all the best success with them. Sometimes I think people try to scare someone out of buying from a pet store or breeding their animals. Not every pet store deals with puppy mills. Not ever birth goes horribly wrong and when it comes down to it, it is your decision. Just be sure you do your homework. Research and although sometimes hesitant, dont be afraid to ask the YT community.

| If you truly love Truffles, the most loving thing you can do for her is have her spayed. Not knowing about her pedigree, at the very least you need to have her deemed fit to breed when the time comes. That means testing for various congenital diseases. Anyone in the breeder section at Yorkietalk can give you a list. I would be so sad to hear she had puppies who died from the things that backyard breeders don't care to check for. Honestly what kind of vet condones breeding two dogs that came from a puppymill? If you are financially secure why not just buy more puppies in the future, this time from a reputable breeder? The dogs do not "miss out" on being a mother, and if you want your kids to see childbirth, look it up on youtube.

| Congrats. Are they AKC? OFA & CHIC certified parents? You'll have to do all the health testing yourself with your vet alobg with the basic Mars DNA does your. Vet do this standard? Considering your pups came from a pup mill most likely I hope you look into pup mills. You are aware many gebetic issues do not present until a dog is 2-r4 years old and just because your dog is healthy it diesnt mean the statical 4 dogs that die in a pup mill for every one (so were on 8...)I that gets purchased didnt hace LS or neurological issues or LP or that your pups will even turn out to be breeding quality. Anyways sorry it may seem attacking to join and happily announce your puppy purchases and planning for future puppies but for those of us who are fully all to aware of the tragity of pup mills and BYB even with the best of intentions...well consider this instant warning from ppl concerned for the heartache of your family and new editions. I'm curious why would yoy want a litter of your own pups at the risk of your new pup? Why not buy more later? You can find many reputable breeders here good luck. Love the pics.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Sorry, I refuse to get into any sort of back and forth conversation about this with you or anyone else for that madder. If I were going to consider getting a pup from a pet store I would do my research first. I in no way want to support PMs. All I will say is that there are other reasons why litter of pups end up in local pet stores. They are not all breed by greed mongrels.

| Grats on your new addition. You're getting good advice here. And grats on having your vet so close! lol! Breeding is a big job! I bred my 1st mini schnauzer, and when I think back to her delivery, I can still feel my heart pounding ...It was exciting, and frightening at the same time. I'm sure when the time comes and you have any questions your hubby can't answer the YTers will help you. This is a great bunch of people, and the knowledge they have astounds me!

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Im not going to get caught in the middle of a debate with you two. The two of you are like a tag team. It is just ridiculous and I have better things to do. I refuse to let the two of you turn this thread Celebrating the OPs Joyous event into a tag team match by going back in forth with the two of you. You do this all of the time, and it sickens me and that my dear is what is sad! Plus Im sure that if you thought about it really really hard you would figure out what I mean by "not all puppies come from PM" or that " there are other reasons why litter of pups end up in local pet stores." Have a great day ladies !
