NO I dont' think so, never! I put a lot of time and effort into asking the right questions and into finding great homes for all of my pups. It is my goal to see to it that each family is the perfect fit and can handle the addition of a new pup to the mix. I do several interviews before even accepting a deposit to hold one of my pups.

Just to put this to rest I will tell you why some pups in pet stored are not always from puppy mills. It is because some are mixed breed pups that came from an every day home, where the family pet got nocked up by a stray dog or an un neutered house mate or however the pregnancy occurred.

Some of you took what I said and got all defensive. You didn't even consider the fact that what I said was possible that there could be another reason why pet shops have different types of pups in them. So, 'yes" Not all pet shops deal with pure breed dogs and not all of them come from puppy mills but, just irresponsible owners!

I have had pups from those type of pet store...both pure breed and not so I know.

Let me reiterate for the sake of factualizing info for others who may read and hopefully learn.. The places that sell pets that are "major" suppliers (most of their money is made from selling puppy mill dogs) will NOT accept any litter of pups off the street...they are contracted by such brokers as HUNTE CORP. (rotten disgusting pukey every bad work I know place that they are) and MUST document each sale so as to meet their contract obligations...blah, blah, blah....sadly often times these Pet Stores bid their contracts out and of course always go with the broker willing to take the least cut...its a dirty business...I guarantee you I am 100% right. Your corner pet supply shop MAY, as I stated earlier, be willing to display a neighborhood litter of pups....I am getting so nauseated here...

Let me clarify something:

MOST MAJOR Pet Shops who sell DOGS and whose main source of profit is from the sale of DOGS are under contract with brokers, sometimes more than one broker but usually just one etc.,...

....Such as Steves Wonderful World of Pets in Williamsville NY...he sells DOGS and some other things but most of his profit is from the sale of dogs....he gets ALL his dogs from HUNTE CORPORATION...

I only stated a fact while seemingly on a very low percentage these days, still a fact. It seems that it was taken and turned into something that it wasn't which doesn't take long to do around here.

Seriously though, I was in no way trying to make light of the fact that there are these types of pet stores out there. I've seen the reports and watch the documentaries and am totally sickened and horrified by it. I am sorry if that is what you thought I was doing, it was so not the case.

Please cant' we just celebrate the OP's newest addition to the family without trying to scare the heck out of her? Is that too much to ask.

Have you read her posts shes not scared in the least. I dont think there is anything wrong with letting her know that her dogs are from puppymills and they shouldnt be bred. Everyone was polite to her in letting her know though and then you come on and make it something else so if this thread took a downward turn its because of you and your postings

I think everyone was basically trying to help. I have friends that didn't know pet shop puppys are from mills... educating people on this issue is needed, but I'm not sure how to get the message out, besides talking to people. I think reporting breeders, here on YT, and the brokers helps. Listing how to report and where would help. Listing our experiences with BYB and PMs would help others if they aren't sure too they have been to a byb or pm. Reporting them to ppl that can shut them down is really what needs done. EVERYONE here agrees they are horrible places.

Your right but what was the point of her posting that not all pet shop pups come from mills when its a fact that 99.9% of them do and where did she supply documentation of even one pet store that didnt. It was posted just to create drama and yes people are going to come on and dispute iit because they know better

yes, but thats education for everyone. I'm learning that large shops sell PM/BYB puppies, and Maybe the small mom and pop's shop will sell a neighborhood litter. I don't condone it, but I'm sure it's done. Some people just don't understand the fact that every animal has feelings, if they did, none of the abuse would happen.

Idk how many times I've heard " it's just a stupid dog" from some ignorant person. If they'd take the time to look at the dog, they'd see the feelings it has...I think that's why we are so passionate about them. We see it, and we want to best for them.

Welcome, Angelfaithwyngs! I lived in Howard County for 30 years. Just to let you know, Today's Pet definitely sells puppy mill dogs. They always have and they always will. Now there is that new store, Charm City Puppies (Charm City Puppies | Pure Bred Puppies | Columbia, Howard County, Baltimore, MD). Their puppies are displayed in cribs, and the staff wears lab coats, but the puppies still come from Hunte Corp. in Goodman, Missouri. Yes, they are puppy mill dogs too. I'm not sure what store your babies came from, and you know what? It really doesn't matter. I know you said your little ones are healthy, and that's wonderful news. I am so glad that they are. Some people who inadvertently purchase mill dogs have had sick pups. I do know that your babies sure are beautiful. You are so fortunate to have a husband that is a vet. Finding a good, trustworthy vet is very difficult, and here you are, married to one! Where does you DH work? Wouldn't it be a coincidence if he turned out to be my vet? Any guy that loves Yorkies like we do is A-OK in my book. I'd love to know. Again, welcome. I hope you'll stick around. We need more Marylanders!

I don't disagree with educating the public and the YT community about PM and pet store pups but this was not the place to do so. If this where my thread and you all came on here bad mouthing my decisions and undermining my joyful moment I would be livid. You all would see a side of me you have never seen before.

Educate dont preach dont turn a joyful moment into something horrifying and wrong!

Better yet start your own thread and Educate members of YT about PMs and pet shop pups. Dont do it here... people are more likely to see a thread that says Help stop Puppy Mills rather than one saying: "Our family fell in love with Yorkies... "

So sad that another new member has likely been driven away. Have you ever thought that someone coming on here with intentions of breeding, if treated nicely, they just may stick around and as they learn and read more, they may decide against it. Even if they do breed, that is their choice. When I first got Maddie, I had thoughts of breeding her. After being here and learning so much, I changed my mind and had her spayed. This thread started out with someone happy to have their yorkies to the OP being lectured and then accused of lying about her husband being a vet. So ridiculous!
