| Do your dogs use car seats?? I have debated this issue a few times, my hubby of course thinks I am off my rocker, (he doesn't understand the need for 20 dog sweaters and jackets, 50 bows, several beds, then doggie stairs, puppy conditioner, with about 200 chewies and toys. He totally ixnayed (sp sorry LOL) the puppy stroller, but I really think we need a car seat for well my dog, but soon to be dogs. Bella always wants to sit on my shoulder or chest, well that isn't a great idea when mom is driving. I get a lot of crazy looks from people with a dog draped across my chest, that is staring them down. Bella is very nosy and has to look at everyone while we are driving and it can be a bit hazardous. She doesn't like to sit with anyone but ME when in the car. Are there any car seats that are better than others. I do need one that will hold 2 small yorkies. Any recommendations.

| Yes, I have both car seats and carriers that can be belted in. I have also been guilty in the past of driving with one on my lap if I am going on a short drive, but I have made the commitment to not do this any more and always ensure they are safely in a pet car seat or in one of the carriers that double as a car carrier. It is best for all -- the pup, the driver & passengers of your car and all those others on the road. Here is an article I recently quoted, it should give some strength to your need for buying a car seat: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...e-driving.html

| Yes, When I first got Bailey I use to have him in my lap, but he is such a hyper little guy, he was all over the place and I felt it was to unsafe to continue like that since he went everywhere with me, so I got a car seat, then I also got Jesse and just bought another car seat that fits both of them, so much better, and safer!

| THis may sound dumb but do you actually strap them in to the seat? Or do they just sit in the seat? I haven't done that much research into them. I wonder if my kids would mind sitting in the 3rd seat of my suburban so I can strap my fur kids in the middle seat? LOLLOLLOL

| Yes, I agree that carseats are safer all the way around. Zhoie would love nothing better than to sit in my lap...but her safety comes first. Believe me, I do have to remind myself sometimes so I don't give in. We have 2 Snoozer carseats. Started out with one in the backseat, until she was about 1.5, but then I also got a console seat and that's where she rides the most now. They definitely make them big enough for 2. My friend puts all 3 of hers in one seat.

| Car safety is very important- not just a luxury like sweaters and toys. I use seat belt attachments- basically the dog is harnessed to the seatbelt- for very short trips. For most other trips though I use carriers seat belted into the car. I like this best because if there were an accident and worst case I was unconscious, the dogs could easily be lifted out of the car in their bag by emergency workers, even ones who may be scared of dogs.

| I have a really simple car seat. It is a million times better than having a dog wandering around in the car, sitting in your lap (in case of an accident the airbag force can kill them), standing up in your lap (dangerous on so many levels) or like Kaji likes, sitting by my feet right next to the clutch or gas. No, I've never driven with him there, but I am guilty of once having my munchkin in my lap. Anyway, the way his seat works is nothing fancy. The seat straps into the car seat, Kaji wears his harness, and I hook the car seat strap onto his harness. Super easy, super compact when I don't need it, and it's safe. Personally I agree with your hubby that a stroller is over the top. That's just my personal opinion though. A car seat is a must have. It shouldn't fall into the want category like carriers and strollers do.

| I highly recommend the snoozer car seat. I have 3. The smaller one I got when it was just Hot Rod and then I found a larger one at a consignment store. I also have the console one that I haven't really used since I got the 2nd seat. My 2 get tethered into the seat. Hot rod still tries to jump out but I make him sit in it for his safety. I have the seat in the front with as it doesn't set the air bag off. I wouldn't even try to drive with my 2 without them being strapped in by myself. I still strap one in if I take them anywhere. Better safe than sorry.

Car safety is so important. I learned after getting into an accident last year where my car was totaled, Jackson was in the back and luckily unharmed. Had he been on my lap, I have no doubt in my mind that he would have been dead. I now have a Snoozer carseat that Jackson loves getting into! He even sits in it when we are in the car and not driving (stopped to eat for example). It's awesome and he can still look out the window and be safe at the same time. The seat is basically just a 'booster' as he is strapped in from the little thing that attaches to the cars seatbelt buckle. He's 16lbs and fits perfectly in a medium size Snoozer -- got it off ebay for $79.

| Car seat here, too! I have an Outward Hound car seat that we got for Christmas in 2009. Not only does Riley love to sit in it and look around, and I'm training him to stay seated in it even after I've gone into the store, or bank, or wherever. I give him a treat once I come back to the van if he's still sitting there in his seat. (He can crawl out of his harness if I leave him hooked up while I'm gone, so I have to unhook him.) People love seeing him sitting there too, especially while we're out driving. They laugh and point at Riley all the time, and he loves the attention...and he's safe! | Well in looking, Snoozer makes many different types and styles. I think the console one would be best for us, but am thinking would it be big enough for two. Sometimes my who suburban is full, but nobody ever sits on the console, so would always be room for the babies. Any thoughts??
