Ashley - Piccolo cried so much her first day at our house, that I put her into bed with me that night. She was happy as could be, and fell fast asleep, with no accidents. (I know, I'm bad.) Through the years, she's changed, and now she likes to sleep on the floor, near our bed. Go figure! Lisa K. - So you played the clarinet! I enjoyed being in the band, how about you? Now I also have to ask, what did you do to your toe, poor thing? I have broken three toes through the years, I guess because I am clumsy. I hate having pain in my feet. I can't even imagine having toe surgery, especially since you have a job that requires a standing position, most of the time. AAAh! |
Ashley, it sounds like Bandit is doing great :) We started out with Abby in her carrier at night, but recently...like the past week, she's been sleeping with us. Daisy has slept with us since the day she came home. I woke up at 5 this morning with Abby laid across my face and Daisy spooning with me! :yelrotflm I don't think they like to get too close to Daddy because he snores ;) I wanted to play the flute too! My Mom told me I had to decide between the flute and baton lessons, so I chose baton. Little did we know you had to be in the band to twirl with the band :( But by golly, I can twirl a baton! :D I was teaching my daughter's step daughter to twirl and she was amazed that "Mimi" could do something so cool. hahaha Has anyone else fed their dogs the Nature's Variety Raw? I've just started with Abby and Daisy and they love it! They are also eating Canidae kibble. I only give them the raw once a day. |
Tammy - That's so sweet everyone is sleeping in your bed, all curled up! I wish Piccolo would, but she has a mind of her own. Also, would love to see you twirl the baton! You said all your furbabies are on Natures Variety Raw. I looked at it, at the pet store today. Piccolo has to have I/D, or I would try it. |
Lisa and Pic-Yes I did enjoy the clarinet for 8 years in school....everynow and then, I would just love to try and play again!! I can't remember...the piccolo has pretty much the same fingerings as the flute?! We could get a trio of flutists from here on our own thread at YT and then have Tammy finish up with a baton solo finale:lol tears!! Lisa can teach us all the flute and then Tammy you can work with us on the baton!!! I know when I came to Boonville I couldnt believe you had to be in the band to twirl:eek:!(I think it was that way at my Indiana high school though, but in Cincinnati it wasn't that way....) You poor girl! All that talent went to waste!!! BHS's mistake.....your grandkids are benefiting now:).:( I can't do anything fancy with the baton, but I loved twirling it too!! Maybe when we walk the dogs, you can show me a few spins:D!! You know I have actually looked for a baton to buy in toy stores lately, but never find any. Also, the toe story....it was claw toe surgery on my 2nd toe next to the big toe (like a hammertoe, but bent a little differently). It's kinda like the base of the toe joint dropped down in the ball of my foot. I tried to treat it conservatively without surgery for a couple of years...I always loved to do high impact aerobics and jogging..... Well anyway ended up with surgery and because my gait had been altered for so long, and healing was soo delayed.....had trouble with lymphatic drainage.....it took soooooooolong to be able to walk normally again without pain...alll from a little toe!!:( I have read some people are getting toes shortened to cosmetically fit into Jimmy Choo's:eek:.......Oh my gosh Never Never Mess with your feet!! I'm sure you can relate Lisa with your 3 broken toes !!! If your feet aint comfy.....nothin in your whole body is comfy.....it pretty messed up my whole left side...toe, knee, hip, shoulder, neck. I'm getting back balanced again thank you:)!! Well hope all you girls have a good night tonight!! Tatertot--I'm sure Bandit is still being a good boy at his new home!!! |

Lisa, what is I/D? Probably when you tell me, I'm gonna bonk myself on the head for not figuring it out. Today is my youngest daughter's birthday. She's 22 today. It's hard to believe. The Marching, Twirling, Whirlwind (is that right?) Yorkie Band!!! Here are some pictures I took of Abby and Daisy this morning. I'll try not to bore you with too many. I took them so I could make a Happy Birthday card for Arika. Notice Abby's topknot? :D |
oops, I meant woodwind :D |
Oh Tammy, the girls are just cute as cute as can be!! Daisy's topknot looks perfect....you guys do have it down!! Abby is just beautiful too and growing up! Her face is just adorable!! Is this her first topknot also? Thanks for sharing your pics. :) |
Lisa K. - You "cracked me up" about the Yorkie band with our own majorette! :eyetearss Also, you poor thing with your toe. It hurts me just reading your post. Tammy- I'm glad Abby was okay after jumping off the bed. That's scary for such a little one, but at least she knows what to do in the middle of the night. Your pictures of the girls are beautiful and Piccolo and I are jealous of the topknots! Piccolo and I hurried up and took a walk this morning, before the rain starts up again. Is anyone else getting tired of this cool, rainy weather? |

I just ordered a new camera from Amazon this morning! :) YeAh! I can't wait to get it. By the time I resize them to fit on here, they all look so blurry. Yes it is scary that she's jumping off the bed. This is the second time she's done it. Both times to go potty. How's little Piccolo doing? I can't wait for us all to get together! :) I feel like I know all of you and your babies. |

Tammy - So how do you do a topknot so well? I keep trying, but it always looks terrible on Piccolo. I have read some threads about this, but I am failing in this area. Do you put a rubber band on first, then the bow? If you have figured out any secrets let me know! You asked about Piccolo, she is doing fine and patiently waiting for me to get off the computer, so she can have a chew bone on the couch while I watch a little TV. It has been great getting to know everyone's furbabies in the OIK area. So here is a question to know your babies a little better. What is your baby's favorite treat? I'll go first - Piccolo absolutely adores green beans. Isn't that funny? She would rather have a piece of that, than anything else. :D |
Last night I gave Winston some of my apple and he just loved it! That is so good that Piccolo likes green beans-very healthy!! I will have to try that with Winston. :rain: I am so with you guys on this weather! Rain Rain Go Away..... |
I haven't tried too many things with Daisy yet. I don't want her to gain too much weight too fast considering she is 11 weeks old and weighed 5.4 pounds last week, but so far her fave thing is watermelon. |
How do I do a top knot so well? I have 4 daughters, lots of practice ;) I bought actual groomers bows that have the rubber band on the bow. We got a bag of 50 on Ebay for something like $6 or $7. I think we have some in every color. I've also bought some kind of fancy ones that have the rubber band attached at walmart in the doggy section. We bought all the chain link fence things we needed tonight, so this weekend, the fence will go up. (We did our part in stimulating the economy :D) I know the girls will enjoy it so much. Up until now, they have been on a leash the whole time they are outside. Now they'll get to run! :animal37:doghop::dogwalk: Abby likes just about everything, Daisy's a little pickier. They both love cottage cheese and yogurt. One thing Daisy loves and I probably shouldn't feed it to her, but I do is...blueberry bagels. I pinch off a couple of tiny bits and let her have them. The blueberries are OK, but I'm sure the bread isn't good for her. We've also been known to take a trip to DQ for vanilla ice cream..yummy! That's mostly reserved for treats after vet appointments. tr_farmer, I'm with your Daisy! I love watermelon too :) |
Hello everyone! Thanks for answering my "Let's get to know our furbabies better" question. Let's see.... tr farmer's Daisy likes watermelon Winston likes apples Tammy's Daisy likes blueberry muffins and both Abby and Daisy like cottage cheese, yogurt, and ice cream Piccolo likes green beans That was fun for me! Do you mind one more question? What is something endearing that your furbaby does? We'll go first again. Something endearing that Piccolo does is she spins three times before I put her food bowl down. I don't know why she does this, but it is awfully cute. How about your furbabies? What do they do endearing? Thanks for contributing! |
Let's see :) Daisy talks ;) Well, it sounds like she's talking and sometimes what it sounds like she said, is appropriate to the conversation at hand! I love it when Abby barks at cars when they drive by...(although I know it will be a terrible habit) All 2.5 lbs of her! :D And just watching her run is so cute! I'm easily entertained ;) |
Tammy - I would love to hear Daisy "talking" and Abby barking at cars! How cute. :) Abby also sounds adorable running. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Piccolo and I hurried and took a walk just now, because I have a feeling the police, etc. are going to close the street around our walking area. (Hillary Clinton is going to be at someone's house for a fundraiser, about a half a mile away, at 7:00 tonight.) |
Hi Lisa, We just went through HillaryPalooza here ;) As a matter of fact, Lisa K. and I both saw Bill Clinton at my old high school. I think Hillary made 2 different appearances and Obama made 1 public appearance and 1 quiet, unannounced visit to U of E. Now that our primary is over, things have quieted down. Maybe you and Piccolo can take another walk later with your camera ;) I asked hubby if he would go with the girls and I to the park later. He's napping on the couch right now, so hopefully when he wakes up we'll take a walk too. It's beautiful here today. How is it in your area? Hugs to you and Piccolo, Tammy, Abby and Daisy |
Lets see what does Winston do that is endearing.....I remember thinking the same of Winston as Tammy did of Abby.....his running and his "big" barking when he first started;).......;)I think his funniest thing that he still does and has ever since he met me is to paw at my hair immediately when I lay down IF it has any type of "foreign" object in it.......twisties, clips, ponytailers.....:D!! I don't know what it is about it......he does not like my hair any way but down!!! This all started before I ever tried to put anything in his hair!! if that was the case, I would think he is trying to get me back:rolleyes:, but I know that's not it!!!! They are hilarious.....no matter how bad my mood on a given day, I can guarantee at least once Winston, cracks me up doing something:D!!... Something gross he was doing, and because of it I am glad we took the pool cover off today......Birds had been doing their thing on my pool cover, and he would go and try to eat each dropping:eek::thumbdown:(!! I immediately of course would have to bring him in because I did not want him getting sick! That just got bad in the past week or so, because he loves being out there scurring around the deck and walking on our cover (it is strong enough saftey wise). He just couldn't figure out why he couldn't come out now....couldn't make the connection.... I'm so excited to see if he will like the pool. I got him a life jacket from Tinkerbell's closet so i'm hoping he does!! The shih tzus hate it so he is my only chance!! He doesn't mind his bath as much, so I'm taking that as a postive sign!! Lisa this get to know the Furbabies is fun!! more more:D |
I'm eager to see how the girls like riding in the boat this summer. I've been putting off buying Abby a life jacket because I just know she's going to go through a big growing spurt the minute I do. Of course with the price of gas, we may never get the boat out of the driveway. We didn't take that walk today :( Hubby weaseled out of it, but he was working on the fence, so I guess I'll let him off the hook. Poor babies need more excercise and so does their Mama. Lisa that's so funny that Winston tries to take your hair thingys out of your hair! He's probably just trying to help you out. Abby chews on my hair, silly little girl. |
Oh Tammy, that is so cool you have a boat!! I bet that is a blast!! I'm sure the girls would enjoy that too!! Yes this gas thing is ridiculous!! Does a boat take a similar amount of gas compared to a car? |
Tammy - I can hear sirens going off, so I wonder if Hillary is leaving Ft. Mitchell? Kentucky has never been important in a presidential primary as long as I can remember, so this is new to me. How about Indiana? That's great you can get your husband to take a walk with you and the girls, even if it is not today. Piccolo and I usually go solo. So how far has your husband built on the fence? That is a wonderful present. :) Oh, Lisa K., Winston does some cute things. I love the hair story. :D I understand about the bird poo. Piccolo thinks that is a treat. Yuk. :tongue3: Hope he enjoys your pool. I have a picture of Piccolo swimming in a lake next to me in South Carolina, from last summer. She looks scared to death. Poor baby. Have a great week everyone. If anyone can think of any "get to know you" furbaby questions, I would love to answer. |

No, the boat takes so much more gas than a car. Seriously it only gets a couple miles to a gallon. Of course, it's fun just to take it out so far onto the river or lake and float. Tony fishes and I lay out. We had a really pretty boat that we sold to some people in FL year before last. That was a great deal. They paid us to deliver it, so we made a vacation out of it on our anniversary. I miss the boat, but Tony bought me a new diamond ring and gave it to me while we were there, so it was a nice trade off :) When we got married, all we could afford were wedding bands and then on our 7th anniversary, Tony got me a half carat diamond. Finally on our 19th, he bumped me up to a full carat! I thought this year on our 20th, he should have doubled that ;) How did I go from talking about boats to diamonds? :D Anyway, now we have a bass boat. It's not nearly as much fun as the other, but Tony really enjoys it. There's a deck for the girls and I to lay out on. I got some great pointers from other Yorkie Moms about how to keep them cool while out on the boat. Our pool is history :( I have pictures of Chloe and Misty swimming in it, but the girls won't ever get to. My BIL and SIL have a lovely inground pool, I'm sure they'll get to take a dip sometime. |

Lisa, My husband isn't much for taking walks. He walks a lot at work, or so he says ;) I do get him to go with us every once in a while though, but we're usually solo too. I'd love to see the picture of Picccolo swimming! This is the first time Indiana has ever mattered in the primary as well. I kind of feel used now that it's over. (just kidding...kind of) It was exciting while it lasted though and something I won't soon forget. I really did enjoy seeing Bill Clinton. A friend of ours is the principal at a High School here in Evansville where Hillary made an appearance. I really wanted to go to that, but opted not to go. It was so cold that day and even though we are friends with principal, she told us, she couldn't play favorites. She said it was the Secret Services way or no way. Basically, I didn't want to stand outside waiting to get in and freeze my hiney off. Big Milestone here! Abby ran up the porch steps all by herself for the first time yesterday! YEAH! She really had to stretch her little legs, but she did it. It was so darling watching her! Sometimes she's so cute I could just eat her up! |
Tammy, Abby ran up the porch steps....Yea! How many weeks/months is she now? You said she started barking a little, too. I did not think Piccolo would ever bark. She was so quiet, when she was a puppy. Things have changed now. Ha! Your bass boat sounds like fun. Does your husband like to fish? You said you go out on the river. Is that the Ohio River? About the swimming picture. I'll start looking for it and post it sometime soon. You will be able to tell she is not having fun at all. She did not have a life jacket, but we stood right next to her. It was so hot that day in South Carolina and it was the only way I could figure out how to get her cool. I should have left her in the hotel, I guess. What hints did people on YT give you for keeping a dog cool on a boat? |
2 Attachment(s) Tammy - Hopefully I am posting Piccolo's picture correctly. This is Piccolo being miserable at Lake Murray, near Columbia, South Carolina, last summer. Poor baby. At least we were able to cool her off, when we got off our friend's boat. Next time, she will have a doggie life jacket! |
Lisa and Piccolo-Love those swimming pictures:)!! She doesn't look too unhappy! She is adorable --she looks so teeny in that first picture with her little head bobbing up in the lake! I bet she was glad to get cooled off! Did she do the doggie crawl??!! It looks like you guys had a fun time! Yes it would be interesting Tammy to hear the cooling tips for the boat! Lisa I was going to ask you if you ever see Reds doggy outfits at any of the stores in Cincy? Did you guys get your daily walk in today? We were busy shuffling the Shih tzus for spa day today, so I don't feel like I accomplished a whole lot. |
Lisa K. - It was so beautiful this morning, but Piccolo and I did not walk because I was doing some volunteer work. By the time I came back, it was raining, so no dog walk today. :( So how was the beauty day for your furbabies? Do you have pictures? Also, I will look around for doggie Reds outfits and let you know if I find anything. Have a great evening! |

Abby was 16 weeks old on Friday. Abby didn't bark until we brought Daisy home. Daisy has been a very good teacher. A little too good. Yes, Tony loves to fish. Both my Tony's like to fish. I'm not much on fishing, but I enjoy being out on the water. Yes, it's the Ohio River. I love the pictures of Piccolo! She doesn't look unhappy to me. She looks so cute and so tiny. Awww, what a sweetie. I should see if I can find the pictures of Misty and Chloe swimming. There's a picture of Chloe in a coffee table book called, DOGS 24/7. She was swimming in the picture in the book. |
Where is everyone? :dogsm6: I was forced to clean today because nobody was here to talk to me. I did give Abby a bath, so I got some Yorkie business done. ;) |
