The standard is set for Yorkies period. People are not just getting $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
for chocolates, its with t-cups and standards also. People will say rare for just about anything if it brings in $$$$$$$$$. There are rare pedigrees, rare colors, rare size, rare hair.

Yes you are right, but do yall not educate those who come on here saying things about wanting t-cups?? what is wrong with her doing the same with chocolates?

I was trying to say that all of the things she listed is what you said but maybe she took some of the things you said in a different way (I don't know if he did or didn't).. You are correct but when you have a standard by a kennel club and dogs dont meet those standard prices drop and pet quality is given without standards all choc are pet quality but see i believe even show dogs are pet quality they deserve same rights as there descendants and this would and could stop alot of the missleading like saying teacup there is no such thing they are runts rare they arent rare they are just high as hell in price its all politics either way you look at it basically i say tomatoe you say tomotoe

Yes we do educate about t-cups. They too, should not be purposely bred for and exploited. They are a fault too. Ever see a t-cup in the ring? We try to educate about their many health issues and faults as well.

but thanks to your education on here, theres no telling how many people have stopped selling them as rare, even though there are tons still out there less people are willing to pay top dollar for them because they now know about the possible health problems...she is only wanting people to know they are not rare and that they should not be sold as such..dont you think that if she was just after money she wouldnt be saying that??

me too im on the same page about standards as most of you some are a little over the top but these dogs being sold as rare with no judgments for breed is wrong being sold with papers to most people means a dog in good standing am i wrong or right. so there for if i was to pay 2000 for a dog that is registered with well known kennel club not knowing anything except i like this color better. Im getting s**tted right because as we all know from the fiasco tonight my dog would never be accepted by the kennel club or the other breeders of the so called breed in the kennel club world i have been ripped off. but now if they set a standard for them people can look up and read on like they have for bk and golds people would know what to look for and nowhere on any kennel sight i have read does it say choc is a dsq or bad dog anywhere so i dont understand the problem give them there own standard so people can have there dogs judged and recorded and then people can see what they are buying buy checking pedigree's and with the kennel clubs most people dont even know anything about chocs except rumors anyway if the kennel clubs would step up they could stop alot of this black market selling of under quality dogs

Breed it and the $$$$$ will come. I hope and wish that all it took was education to stop indescriminant breedings and purposely breeding faults all in the name of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. But as long as there is an impulse buying public, the outrageous prices will always be there, no matter how careful you breed.

Well stupid is something you cant fix. i guess but i still think they deserve a standard to which breeders who want to breed have a guide line so they dont ruin this beutiful dog and with standards we could show and take the best of the best and get the better lines for better quality dogs for pets or shows healthier better quality if standards are set that seems like alot of gain for a breed for a little writing in a book dont you think

Does the breeder breed for the improvement of the breed?

By breeding for the improvement of the breed the yorkie breeders become more knowledgeable about health issues and evaluating the quality of the Yorkshire terrier. With this knowledge and if they are ethical they can better advise their customer on the quality of the puppy they are considering to purchase.

If one studies the history of the Yorkshire terrier you can see that their look has changed over the course of their history. And it makes sense that most people are going to want the most current yorkie. This is somewhat of an exaggeration, but you should get the idea, but if you were buying a computer would you buy a computer from a company that never made improvements on their original computer or would you buy a computer from company that is constantly striving to improve their original computer?

In breeding for the improvement of the breed we’re not basing improvement solely on AKC standards. Following AKC standards is a good starting point but AKC standards are primarily for having a standard to show against and if your raising show dogs you have no choice but to breed for improvement based upon AKC standards. What the public wants may be slightly different from the AKC standard. One example is many people prefer Black/Gold coloring vs. AKC standard Blue/Gold. The AKC standard has changed over the course of its history. It was last revised April 12, 1966 and we feel that it’s the breeders that Breed for improvement based upon the AKC standard and public preference will continue to put pressure on AKC to periodically revise the AKC standard.

For instance in the late 50's a "parti" Pomeranian -Madame Butterfly won world recognition in the American Kennel Club Association as the first ever "parti" Pomeranian to win. Hence the American Kennel Club now recognizes a Parti Pomeranian. If it wasn't for this breeder breeding for public preference the parti Pomeranian would have never been recognized by AKC.

Many show breeders rely on the income they receive on the sale of puppies to support the expense of showing their dogs. When show breeders can’t support the cost of showing thru the sale of their puppies you will see the AKC standard revised. Without this balance between qualified show breeders and qualified yorkie breeders you would never see changes in the AKC standard. You would still see 15- 20 lbs. Yorkshire terriers.

shannette barbe- I found this on another website. I wish you all the luck in getting the Chocolate yorkie recognized as a breed. This is what Mr and Mrs Beiwer did and their breed is slowly getting there. The yorkshire terrier wasn't even recognized for several years after the mixing of several different features found in several different breeds of terriers and maltese.

but even if she reaches just a handful of people who were considering buying the high priced chocolates then thats a handful of people who could spread the word to more people...when i got on here and first learned the truth about the so called tcups i repeated it to everyone who mentioned it after that...you can never expect to reach everyone or to completely stop it, but its the few you can educate that make the difference.
