| I am so very sorry you got the tickets. I know it must have been an embarrassing moment for you. I would do some research and see if the city defines "container". If you had the girls in your arms then they WERE contained. Geez...... I have a question, though.... ![]() Is this an Open Container Dog Law or a Closed Container Dog Law. |

| So sorry! I had no idea that dogs had to be in a container/crate/kennel. I live in San Diego, and while mine is in a dog seat, I see dogs all the time riding loose in the car. My neighbor is a SWAT officer and I will ask him!

) and they NEVER said a word other than "that's a beautiful cockatoo". Also, I've been stopped here too, with Max in the car not in a container and he even started BARKING at the cops at the window .....and they were stopping me for stepping on it to get around a truck who was annoying me and wouldn't let me in front of him, so I just gunned it and in a flash, there I was..in front of him. Unfortunately, all of a sudden I was in front of an unmarked police car . Anyway, they were pretty nice, told me if they had a car like mine, they'd be going fast too , but to slow down and drive safely. No ticket. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes they're jerks.

| Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Girl it's the beginning of the month they need to make their damn quota. I will ask my brother about it later for you. He is with the NYPD. They were being pricks because they could easily have warned you. But my guess is that they needed to make their quota.

| I wonder if you could dispute it if there weren't signs anywhere stating what the rules are about taking dogs on the train. $25 isn't much but it's the pinciple. If I had my dogs on a leash and received a ticket for not having them contained, I would think that there should be explicit rules stated somewhere that the dogs need to be in a kennel. You should have received a warning...

| There is a big difference between the "letter" of the law and the "spirit" of the law. This law is obviously meant to protect people from large dogs who could bite. I would go to court and ask the judge for a warning instead. That being said, going to court may not be worth the $50.00. Court is crowded and for the most part, full of criminals! No fun!

| Only in NY! Mayor Bloomberg is nutso. He gets legislation to give tickets for everything! He made it illegal to sit on the steps going down to the subway (Not that anyone would want to - yuck). There was a pregnant girl sitting down. She wasn't feeling well and got ticketed anyway. He wanted to make it an offense to spit gum on the sidewalk. It is disgusting, but I would never want to have lunch with that man. He's so picky and annoying. If there are no signs posted in the subways, I would try to fight it. I also never knew that dogs had to be confined in a car. What defines "confined?"

| Alright. I'm going to open up a can of worms here. LOL. My husband is a retired New York City Police Officer and I know this is on a different subject matter but it probably all comes down to the same thing the $$. Mayor Bloomberg, advocates FREE health care for everyone, including undocumented residents. Someone has to pay for this. The mayor will advocate for free health care yet his own police officers get denied access to places such as Sloan Kettering because Sloan does not take an HMO which most police officers have. Anyway, as I said on a different subject but all comes down to the same, the city needs the $$ to pay for benefits for those that can't afford. Documented or not. I'm sorry, that two ninny heads gave you not one but two tickets. They could have given you a warning or at the least just fined you for one. RIDICULOUS. Elaine |
