| I live in Puerto Rico and its law to have your dog in a kennel or crate if he is in a car. But its mostly to protect the dog if there is an accident. God forbid you are involved in a car accident, your pup could go flying or hit by the air bag and that could kill him. But anyway I dont even own a kennel or a crate so my baby is loose in my SUV.

| While I understand your pain and sympathized with you, no one wants a ticket. . However, there are dog laws in every state. These rules are made to protect you and your dog and the people around you. Its your responsibility to check what the laws are in your state. I have even seen people meticulously ask people on the sit what are the laws in your state, because I am taking a trip to XYZ. Where can i take my dog , where can I not take my dog. and they offer this link. http://www.pettravel.com/passports_pubtrans.cfm New York State New York City - Small dogs in carriers are allowed on the Long Island Railroad, Long Island Bus and New York City Transit buses and subways. Small dogs in carriers or on a secure leash are allowed on the Metro-North Railroad. The pet carrier should be able to fit on your lap and should not occupy a seat. Dogs should not bother other passengers. Small dogs in secure carrying cases are allowed on the trains. New York, NY (Seastreak Ferry, 800-BOAT-RIDE, http://www.seastreakusa.com): Dogs of all sizes must stay on the outside portion of the ferry and they need to be on a short leash. Dogs are not allowed on the inside area regardless of the weather unless you have a small dog and he or she is in a carrier. Yeah its a bitch when you get a ticket. but most of us are breaking some kind of law when we do. Sometimes the police let us off with a warning. but most of the time they have to give out tickets. Dont get mad at them when they actually are doing the job that they are payed to do. Its your responsibility as a pet owner to know the pet laws in your state. I cant believe people are complaining about car safety laws as well. We all know good and well how buckling ourselves up can save lives... You tell people every day. "Yorkies are so fragile, you have to be careful with your lil fur baby", why should being careful with your Yorkie in a care be so different? These laws were put in place to make the roads and transportation system safer for everyone and everything. |

IMO, it doesn't matter what the law says if it's not posted anywhere (unless it's something obvious). Whenever I take the trains/subway in the city I've never seen a sign about dogs....

| Just Pay the ticket and go on, Its not worth the time and lost time from work to mess with that. time is money and a lost day at work would cost you even more, and still have to pay the ticket plus court cost. |

| "Me and my boyfriend took the train real quick to blockbuster and we took Sophia and London with us." This is not about a automobile.
