The breeder just emailed me new pics... I have been talking to her on & off all day.

New pic of Trigger... #1
Pic#2 is the little girl I was suppose to get but decided against.
Pic #3 is the other pups.

She also said if I change my mind I can pick one of the others. I still love Trigger though.

Notice how they all have a lot of white on their chests.. is this good or bad?

He is an absolute cutie, but he does not look like a yorkie to me. I'd be worried that they are trying to pass it off as a purebred yorkie. Other than that, he is adorable, and I'm sure he'd make a very loved and cherished pet!

He definitely looks like a yorkie. He's a cutie!

Default I dont think its a purebred Yorkie

I hope he is but he looks more like a min pin/yorkie mix. Also, there is no such thing as a red leg. Look up the AKC standard of the breed. How well do you know the breeder/seller of this puppy? Do the parents have AKC papers? To get the ears up, shave all the hair off of them now until they stand up on there own. You might even have to use masking tape to "stand them up" for awhile. Good luck on your puppy.

Aww, he sure is a cutie!! And I love the name Trigger!!

He looks to be a yorkie chi mix to me. The facial structure is all wrong, the ears, the muzzle, the skull. He very well may be a purebred yorkie, just not a standard looking yorkie. There are a lot of non standard looking yorkies out there and they all look different.

I don't think the price is bad, so if you love him already, I would get him. Your husband will fall in love with him and will quickly forget about how much you paid for him and it won't matter whether you paid that much for a purebred or a mix.

bpaske:

It has been a loooong time since I last posted. If anyone wants to go into my profile and click on "Read all posts by..." you will see what I was posting back when I first purchased my MadMax. There were -- and still are, actually -- questions as to his lineage. (Although if you talk to most of what is left of my family they will say the same about me! ).

I'm posting to say a few things:
When you posted the first few pics I thought maybe you were kidding. Sorry, but they did not look anything at all like a Yorkie. Cute, but aren't all puppies? Then I felt bad because it was sooo obvious that you want this pup to be a Yorkie, no matter what. It could be 30 lbs and purple and you would still see a Yorkie. That's "puppy love"! I read most of the other posts and could almost see folks shaking their heads and posting with a sad "voice", "Sure, that could be a Yorkie. Maybe. Wait a few years and see if he changes".

I could see what your husband's concern is: Yeah, you love him now, and all that. Buyt if this breeder was hitting you up for full-bred Yorkie prices and selling you a mix, then his misgivings are understandable.

Then I stopped and remembered my MadMax. Max always had a similar problem -- but exactly the reverse of yours. Take a look at his pics below. He was only about 10 weeks and 6 lbs in the first photo. The second photo was this past December and that's Max now -- all 20 lbs of him!

I still have no certainly of his breed, though his vet says Yorkie. But I love him just the same!

Default Sorry.. it's LoooooNg

While I see your point, and I do not take offense at all. I do not think that I am blind and would see Yorkie where there was a 30lb purple dog. I have seen the whole family, there are 5 pups who all have the same markings, whose bodies are all built the same, 2 have bigger ears.. but lots of yorkies have big ears, the ONLY difference in my guy and the others is that his face looks longer, and more narrow. What I am saying though is that they have longer hair... if you add even a 1/5 of an inch of hair on his face.. the coloring would obviousely become less distinct, his face would no longer look so narrow, and his eyes would look more surrounded if you know what I mean. All of the sudden he doesnt look so odd.
**attached is a pic of a yorkie pup that was marked as sold on a breeder website.. granted they aren't the best facility but none the less they sell yorkies and this one looks a LOT like my guy. I

My point is that I agree he doesn't look exactly right, but I don't agree that he looks NOTHING like a yorkie at all. Maybe nothing like standard but we also have 2-3 lbs yorkies around here that people aren't saying aren't real yorkies either.

To the lady who says there is no such thing as a short haired yorkie.... I believe there is. It may not be the standard, but they are sometimes called redlegs and are commonly used by breeders to bring back strong color into the lines. There are several on this site who have "redlegs" and thier Yorkie has hair that is near impossible to grow. It will never grow to be full length.

Here is a thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49026

http://yorkiepassion.com/hedy.htm This is a pic of a redleg who looks VERY similar to my dogs mother, except she has shorter legs.

Also, if you search redleg there are numerous threads about their differences.

I would like to thank everyone for all of your kinds words, I can't tell you how much it means to me. To be honest, even if the dog turns out to be 30lbs and purple... yes I will still love him. I will love him the same whatever way he turns out!

My Maļa was fluffy as a puppy but her coat never grew up so she looked like an Australian Terrier . She was an extraordinary little one for 18 years , 11 months and I loved her so much .

Your little one is adorable . Thank you for sharing the pictures .

I'd say if it's an older lady and all she has is the two then he is full yorkie, just not one most people look for. Yorkies come in all sizes, shapes, hair color etc. I look at a lot of pictures of yorkies and some of them just aren't the type I'd buy. Longer snouts, bigger bodies, floppy ears, shorter sparse hair, etc.

I paid twice what you're paying for my girl and I have one picked out that's even way more than that but to me it's worth it to get a shorter nose, good quality coat, a face that I find attractive. I don't think your little one will turn out looking like what you see on the cover of a Yorkie magazine but I do believe he is full yorkie.

If you love him, buy him...if you think you'll be disappointed because he's not going to be as pretty as most then don't. Save up a little more and get a different one. I don't think this lady is trying to swindle you, I just think she's a poor quality backyard breeder(but that doesn't make her a liar)

~the other puppies did have shorter faces, but he DOES look more like his mother. She has a more narrow, longer snout. The daddy has bigger ears, they stand but the breeder said it took some work, and they are pretty big. None the less, he is one of the cutest yorkies i have seen becasue I like teh bigger ears.
~As for his weight, I weighed him myself with our meat scale. It hovered around 1.4 to 1.5 so I went with the larger. He may look bigger becasue I am holding him, and I am the size of an average 12 year ld. LOL. I am 4'1 about 90lbs, so I make anything look bigger.
~My breeder is NOT out to make a buck, I think if something is wrong she doesn't know about it. She didn't even mean for her girl to get pregnant right now, she usually only has 1 litter and she likes to plan it out. She thought she was keeping them apart, but found her male and the female at night. She got them apart, but it took. She is a stay at home mom, and she has NO neighbors. Her dogs don't even go outside to pee becasue she lives in a heavily wooded area. They have pee pads inside.
~I saw him in person, and I didn't even think twice that he may not be purebred. But, the pictures are what's throwing me.
~As far as the price....I am paying $800 for him. Which is a fair price for around here.

I am going to ask her to take more pictures, and I will ask about why he doesn't look exactly like most that I have seen.
Hi there, may be what I'm going to tell you make you open your eyes a little bit. This is my experience right now and I'm so upset, so sad I can't even explain my feelings right now and is really hard to me, but I'm going to let you know so you can be more careful. When I get my puppy he look like a Yorkie with a lot of hair at 5 weeks so cute, with pointy ears already he was beautiful, when I went to pick him up everything was alright and I saw the parents on site a 5 lb daddy and almost 61/2 lb mommy really nice both of them but at soon my boy got 3 months a lot of people ask me if he was a yorkie and its feel so good trust me but it was a couple of people who ask me if he was a yorkie poo, I said no he is a pure yorkshire terrier and now I feel so stupid and I'm sorry for the word but honestly is so frustrate and you know what I started my research about yorkie poo puppies how they breed them and all kind of information and actually its around 3 different type of yorkie poo, some of them have the look more like a poodle but mine is a yoyopoo whats means he is 25% poodle and 75% yorkie and if you see him you can say he is a 100% yorkie right now his face, his eyes, his snout, his body his colors, the personality for me everything is yorkie in him but his hair is not silky but is cottony is wavy but not curly is a really light wave, and right now hi is 6 months and he weight 8 pounds. You want to know how can I prove it to my breeder ? cause I call her and she said no she never ever would do that to nobody, but she did to me cause he have papers (AKC) and I started to calling her making questions and pushing, so one day ( and I'm talking about last week) I call her and let her know I'm going to the court with my husband tomorrow if you don't do the DNA test to my puppy to confirm the bloodline and she was always making excuses to don't do it, and she was a really nice person she always answered my calls but now in days you never know and I paid $1000 for mine. So actually she confess me the grandfather it wasnt a pure yorkie he was a yorkie poo, so my my baby got it from his grand pa.

What sweet puppies! I bet you are excited to get Trigger home with you. I don't know if it matters at this point because you seem taken by your little guy, but I still see Min Pin in there. I especially see it with the girl in the second picture. Also, the picture that you shared of the puppy in the basket, that really looks to have Min Pin in it. Honestly, if you are in love with him (which I can see why) and you feel 100% about his health and temperment, then go for it! He is a doll and you will enjoy having him in your family I'm sure.
