My yorkie is a yorkie.. RIGHT? 1 Attachment(s) I showed my sis in law pics of the new guy, and she saud "that looks nothing like a yorkie. His nose looks like he's a chiuhuaha or something. " I am upset, becasue someone on a previous thread of mine also asked if he was a purebred. Please be honest, does it look like he may not be. He is only 6 weeks... but his face isn't fluffy at all, and his snout is not squared like most pics. I am just worried because he is costing me a pretty penny, and I would hate to have a mix for what I am paying. So, has anyone see a puppy look like this and be full bred yorkie? His mom and dad were onsite. They are the only dogs the woman ownes except a crippled lab outside who I know is WAY to big. The mom & dad live inside so there wouldn't be any accidents happen w/another dog. |
I'm no expert, so maybe there's someone better at judging that...but he is a cutie! He doesn't look like a lot of other yorkie puppies I've seen, but you never know, and its hard to tell when they're so young. I'm sure he has yorkie in him, but he may be a mix. |
2 Attachment(s) Honestly, at 6 weeks it is hard to tell. I think he is probably purebred. He does look like his coat isn't as fluffy as most yorkie puppies at that age and that probably means he will have a coarser coat that grows more slowly. As for his nose - it is probably longer than standard but my yorkie, Lacy also has a little bit of a longer nose. Lacy also has a coarser coat that grows slowly - it is silky but coarser than it should be. Your puppy is still adorable though! Be extra cautious with your baby since he is only 6 weeks old..that's really too young to have left the breeder. Here are some pics of her: 1. Lacy at 10 weeks 2. Lacy a couple weeks ago (will be 3 in September) |
Wait...is the puppy home yet? or is he still with his mommy? |
1 Attachment(s) This is a picture of a 6 week old yorkie puppy on the day she turned 6 weeks old |
I'm not sure. He is still very young, how big is he? The thing I notice is the ears, are they pointy? |

He hasn't left the breeder yet, I only have a couple pics that I took of him when I visitited last Friday. The other puppies had the shorter nose, but I like the way his looks. I think he is perfect, but I just wanted to see what everyone else thought. I also had suggested that maybe his mom was a redleg, because she has shorter hair, and the breeder said it take a long time for it to grow. However, she was not tall at all. Hmmmm, I am just worried. I love him, and I already paid for him. But, if he grows up and isnt' a yorkie I KNOW my husband will not be happy that we paid so much for him. |
Purebred Yorkie Hi, your yorkie does look very unique. It might change though. What matters is you really love your puppy. If you choose to breed, then there are more things to think about. By the way, the picture of Yorkie "Lacy" is just too adorable. I love the picture. Wow! |

Yes his ears are pointy, but they don't stand up. She told me that she was going to start to rub them though, and if that didn't work she would tape them. He weighs 21oz. |
He IS cute, but i dont think that this is a purebred yorkie. IMXO. |
In all honesty hun, he look like a yorkie-chi to me maybe one of the parents or grandparents are mix, I hope I'm wrong he still to small to tell, (I think) maybe some breeder expert in here can tell you better, I understand your hubby point though, but if he got your heart that's all matter:thumbup: |
I'm also not sure.. it is so hard to tell at this age. What do the parents look like? Do they look purebred to you? |
For me, I won't get it because he doesn't look like a yorkie... The hair is so short and straight and absolutely not fluffy...... but I could be wrong.... This is just my opinion..... maybe a yorkiemix... don't believe what I say....just believe on what your heart say..... he is adorable....:) |
