I also have some television and newspaper contacts for the Fresno area. I know Modesto ends up being covered a bit by us, but I don't think Modesto TV news is our people. If you are getting ABC30 in Modetso, let me know and I will make some calls.

I THINK it's Sacramento, but not sure. Was trying to figure out which stations serve that market.

They have sister stations so a call to my people here might result in a call to them. I also posted earlier that I am a lawyer and work with law enforcement in my area. I am willing to write a letter to Wal-mart and use my contacts to help light a fire under the police, walmart or to get the media going.

Proud mommy - if you want my help let me know. I will be going to Sacramento on business tomorrow and will be gone all day and late into the night, so if you don't let me know today, I probably won't be able to make contact with you until Saturday.

GREAT! Anything that can be done at this point is a step in the right direction. And if you make that call to someone in the media, you might mention that Maureen is not the only one to have a Yorkie disappear recently.

Yes, they are a total of 4 missing Yorkies in the Modesto area. If the Media would focus on all of them it might be a 'bigger' clip :rolleyes:

P.S. I just posted another thread asking anyone to make a MySpace page for Zeke. If we can get one made and then somehow spread it around and get friends in the Modesto/Tracy area, maybe someone has some more info. Everyone (well...except me) has a MySpace page, so maybe, just maybe...

Exactly! What it would do is get someone more interested in writing the story to begin with. And that is what we need.:D

please let me know if proudmommy gets back to you. i was thinking after my post that i dont know how useful a letter from me would be since i am all the way in pa. but if you have any ideas or ways to help you galatea let me know. it sounds like you have a lot of contacts out there which is a great thing in this profession...

We have a village newspaper that covers the four surrounding villages.
You can just walk in with any written article to be put in. Is there such a paper in that area?

Galatea, I posted this message a few pages back. I know you are busy, so I am reposting here because I had directed my question at you:

However, I would not wait the amount of days a Legal Letter would take to get a response. I think time now, is of the essence, because too many days have already passed since Zeke was taken. Galatea - would you be willing to call this Manager. I feel he would find a real "voice", albeit one over the phone, more intimidating, so as to elicit an immediate response from him. If he hears there is a Legal representative of the lady he refused to help yesterday, he might be prompted to do the right thing."

I just think that a direct phone call could expedite matters more quickly.

I can assist with myspace. However, it will have to be later on tonight as I am in class until 8.30pm

My plan would be to call the Walmart store, ask for the FAX number for the manager, then ask to speak to the manager. Identify myself, the issue and the request, and then FAX a letter documenting the conversation with a FAX copy to Walmart Corporation. If they say they will do something I will document that. If they say they won't I will document that and let them know that their supervisors will know, the media will know, and the police will be further advised.

I need to talk to proud mommy first on the phone to get some additional info.

Can you put a call in anyway? It would be so great if this appeared on a local news station over this coming weekend, when more viewers are in front of their TV's.All it would take is a 30 second clip, showing Zeke's pictures (I have a folder ready to go) and a brief recount of Maureen's story, her illness and how Zeke seems to have mitigated her symptoms. We could use her posting earlier when she describes it. The information could be passed onto the TV station via email, in a concise "copy and paste" of the above, with the pictures attached therein.
EDIT: I wanted to add one more thing. A couple of months ago, there was a very similar story that aired on local TV stations. Because of the enormous number of people responding, the dog was soon found. How did this person get their story publicized? It showed many times during the course of 2 days. All it takes is the right contacts, who knows whom, there is always a link somewhere, like we have here with Galatea.

Here is my recommendation. Pick the news station that you would like to cover the story and post their web site here. Somewhere on their site they will have a link where you can send in suggestions for news stories. Everyone on here should send in a separate submission suggesting that they pick up Zeke's story and give them Maureen's contact info. The more submissions they get, the more likely they will do the story. News Stations love animal stories because it gets in viewers. The cuter the pet and the more heartbreaking the story, the quicker they jump on it. I can't imagine them not wanting the story. Talk about all the missing dogs but emphasize Zeke's story. If you're lucky, the story will be picked up by the national outlets.

Hopefully they will do the story, interview Maureen on television, and show Zeke's picture while asking people to call in if they have any information. I really hope this works out.

Are you able to sort through people by zipcode area? I know you have to ask to acquire friends and ideally to focus in Modesto/Tracy area is what we are looking for.

It looks like a pretty small station. It may not have many viewers. You might want to find out the local news stations that airs on one the top three networks(abc, nbc, cbs)

Here is another idea...and again, I am not familiar with Craig's List or the Modesto/Tracy area.

Anyway...Yorkiemalt suggested that Zeke's Mom take out a "Yorkie Wanted - Preferably Male" Ad on Craigs List.

I think that's a good idea too, b/c whom ever has him might answer b/c they are looking to sell him :confused:

I just called her and left a message. I would suggest an ABC affiliate for the news. They have the greatest number of local news viewers in that area.
