| ![]() I think so. I think they made a mistake & know it and intentionally did not put anything in the records about it so that they could not be held responsible. I personally would not drop the issue.

| ![]() I know it may seem like something small and shouldn't be made into something so big but this just isn't right. All I want are answers from the vet and all he's doing is avoiding the quesitons by saying he didn't do it. I don't want to just drop it and act like it never happened but what else can I do if he's denying it? |

| ![]() That is really wrong of the vet. I am so sorry he is doing that to you. You don't need to drop it. I would be really upset if that had happened to one of my babies. You need to keep after them. I hope you find out soon.

| ![]() How old is your baby? Has he had anesthesia for teeth cleaning or something else perhaps at another vet? Could it have happened at an earlier visit elsewhere and you just noticed it? |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | ![]() absolutely unfreaking unbelievable. Disgusting that this happened and they want to act like they don't know about it. When was he neutered? Doesn't a vet normally make note when they check over an animal of any sort of markings as a tattoo? I would tell them that you are taking your dog to another vet for his future care and would like a copy of the records.

| ![]() I'll tell you what.... This should end all of the round and round arguing with that vet! When you establish any animal as a new patient it is the vets responsibility to do an exam and take a detailed patient history. During that exam he does a physical, and he makes notes of the dogs breed, markings, they check for microchips, TATOOS, and do an oral exam as well as the ol' therm up the bum! All of this info goes into your pets FILE. A file that they add to each time you come to visit! If your dog had that tattoo before that surgery, it would have been noted. And your Vet knows it! I'd file charges just to make a point. Its one thing to make a mistake.. Its something else to deny it and not make amends.

Sounds like a good plan! If it is a tattoo, what's it of?

| ![]() Never mind ![]() Say it is a tattoo, I think you would have to get written proof from an expert (a tattoo artist or another vet) and probably take it to small claims court. What are the damages though - in other words, you would sue him for money, but for what exact damages? I watch too much of the People's Court, but I think you have to prove why he should pay you money - what damage was done to the dog or to you or what contract did he break, etc. I'm not saying you shouldn't take it further, I'm just saying you need to show real damages. Maybe the tattoo itself is a damage, or maybe there's a contract of sorts when you go to a vet.

As far as suing or filing charges, I don't think I want to do that. I just want him to admit what he did and fix it or go over it with another tatoo that looks suitable for an animal free of charge. There are no mental damages done to Buttercup just a little physical damage to his skin because of that stupid thing. I'm changing vets. One who doesn't have the balls to admit to what he did is not the one I would want taking care of my pets. He even told me it's nothing to worry about because it's not visible to people or dogs. HA! Who does he think he is?!? A dog has their dignity too! | |

| ![]() Just curious what vet it is. My roommate has worked at a vet in Houston before so she's wondering who it was?
