I showed it to my cousin's husband, who is a police officer here in Houston and he said that those symbols are popular with 'gothic' (people who believe in the dark?) people. (That's what he told me, so IDK) He thought it was funny. While laughing, said he'll look into this and see if there is anything he could do to help. He thinks I'm crazy that I'm so obsessed over this and how I treat Buttercup like a human being.

You're not crazy! It's interesting about the symbol, though...who knows what he was really trying to do? It's weird how he wouldn't tell you adn instead said he didn't know. Why would he not know? He's admitted to doing it? It's a good thing that you CAN tell if a little guy has been neutered, because if you couldn't I would start to wonder if he even did that! And I can see why they might want to tat a female that they are spaying (not a male), but also think they should have to ask permission first. If you say no, then they shouldn't do it.

I'm happy to hear he came forward and fessed up-at least you know where it came from.

Now, I do have one question: Why was the vet putting a tattoo on a dog, when he didn't know what the tattoo WAS? He didn't know what the symbol meant, and why he was putting it permanently on a dog? That seems a little "off" if you ask me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only reason a dog would have a tattoo is for identification, right? Or are there people that give tattoos like people get tattoos? If that's the case, then what reputable vet would do that do a dog? ugh.

As far as the money goes, I think I'd take the neuter money and first get a few new things for Buttercup-some outfits, treats, leash, and his first visit to his new vet, and then I'd go out to dinner somewhere nice with my husband for a job well done! Think of it as your "reward" money for figuring out that mystery!

Actually, when I took Maxwell for his first vet visit, the vet started to write down something on his record about his "testicles not yet descending" -- I pointed to the tiny print on the breeders papers that said "neutered". Maybe Maxwell was neutered too early, but he's seems fine now. The vet was assuming the boys just weren't showing up.

I can't believe that vet...denying and lying until your husband threatens a law suit! What a dishonest piece of crap. I'm glad you didn't let him slide on this one and you should definitely write an editorial for the paper (as someone else suggested). And definitely file a complaint with the vet board. He has no business practicing medicine if he can't even be honest with his clients (let alone carry out procedures without permission). What an awful awful man.

Glad to hear it's somewhat resolved. There is a lot more there that he is not willing to admit to but your not going to get answers.

Lulu is set to be dropped off for her spay on Wed night and I will ask about that tattoing. I dont' know anyone who has had their dog spayed/neutered that came back with a Tattoo.

I would spread the story locally so that vet would lose some business. He is very unethical and that is just wrong.

just read up, what in the @#($*# was he thinking!!! If he had no idea what it was why in the @#$&#(* would you do it. The @%#$ was high or something. I'd report his @#@#. That's just unacceptable. Being a professional you don't do @##$ like that especially if you have no clue. Can you say malpractice @#$wipe?

Good grief, off to wash my mouth out with soap.

OMG this is just crazy!! I'm glad you were refunded but this vet needs to be reported!! I'd go to the news and anyone who would listen to me! You may save someone else's pet from this very same thing or worse.

i would pass the word around and let eveyone know, and i wou dhave taken then money back to.

No! A goth cult vet. I doubt if he could get a Yorkie under a spell. They're hard enough to just train not to pee on the floor!

It's nice of your cousin's hubby to check it out for you, but I don't think I'd be too concerned. Just another nut!

You should definately contact the state governing board for veternarians. This was totally inappropriate and he should be disciplined by his peers.

Sometimes the testicles dont drop at all and it can appear that they are neutered when in fact they are not

I'm glad he finally admitted it so that the mystery is solved, but how did he make a mistake? Did he tattoo the wrong dog, and if so, what was the tattoo supposed to be? This man can't be trusted, I would report him. Who knows what other "mistakes" he has made or will make in the future.
