| I Did It ! I was at the drive-in with Diesel and a teenager came up and rubbed Diesel and said "awww he is so cute. We are getting one only it is a tea-cup." I spoke right up and said "Just so you know there is no such thing as a tea-cup Yorkie. They are only breeding Yorkies that are on the small side and hoping for the best." Then I went on to tell her that she had better be careful getting one so small because the smaller they are the better the chance is of the dog getting sick. She looked at me with her mouth wide open and is she couldn't believe what I was saying. I told her that Diesel was only 4.5 -5 pounds and that going smaller means that they will be even more fragile. No offense to those who have smaller babies. I know that their are some very healthy little ones out there. </IMG>

| Good for you!!! I am lucky enough to have a healthy 2.9 oz baby and yes they do require a little more care because they are so small and I love him dearly!!! I have had people ask me if he was a teacup and i have to tell them too there is no such thing!! He just happened to be the smallest one of the litter and the others were spoken for but he was soooo cute I couldn't resist!!!!

| omg my bailey is 2.4lbs and she was the same way (came from average parents and brothers and sisters) she just happend to be tiny. Shes healthy as well but I hear that ALL THE TIME "oooh so shes a tea cup" I have explained to people before "no shes just small theres no such thing as teacup" I usually get different reactions sometimes people are interested and they say "Oh i never knew that before" other times they get an attitude and give me a dirty look... Ive gotten to the point where when people ask me if shes a teacup I just say "No shes just small" It gets tiring explaining the whole teacup thing over and over again only to have people dumbly look at you. |

| I've heard that comment a few times too..... that they were getting or have a teacup. One lady at the ballpark had a 12 week old Yorkie and was comparing him to Tatum. At that time Tatum was only a year old or so and weighed about 3 pounds (she's now 3 years and a good solid 5.5 lbs). This lady looked at Tatum and said "well, MINE will be much smaller grown up" (with a touch of "attitude"). I asked how much he weighed at the time and he was already a little over 2 pounds. I told her that there was no way to tell at that age but that he would likely be at least as big as Tatum if not bigger - I was just guessing and comparing it the fact that Tatum was not even 1.5 lbs at 12 weeks. She said, no, the breeder had promised her a teacup. That's where I inwardly rolled my eyes and gave up trying to explain it all to her. I wish I could see that pup now and see if she is still as happy with him. I personally would love to have a tiny but a healthy tiny..... I know there's no way to guarantee that but I know it's possible. Tatum is plenty small for us though and I feel she can really stand her own outside playing with her bigger Aussie sister.

| Max is 7.5 pounds and I have heard it all. Is he a real Yorkie, their's are teacups, their's are much, much smaller, one woman told me hers was smaller because it was a toy, and my very favorite "What a beautiful dog, do you dye his hair to look like that?" I answered her - the rest I can't. I don't have the energy for nonsense.

| I've had people ask me if Lucy was full-blooded because she weighs 11 lbs. I often wonder if people realize how SMALL 11 lbs really is

same here....all I hear is Teacup teacup teacup!!! I am tired of hearing the word teacup!! London is 2 lbs and everyone I run into say they want one like her, and pay more attention to her than to poor Teddy. She just came out small, but her parents are normal sized. Ppl piss me off sometimes and I get tired of explaining the teacup thing

| It use to not really bother me to hear tea-cup. For some reason it really did bother me last night. It is almist like some people consider a "tea-cup" Yorkie to be a different breed. You know like a Poodles... Toy Poodle, Mini Poodle, and a Standard Poodle. What issad is the fact that some people don't really know the difference. They don't really know any better. To be quite honest with you had it not been for YT I would have not know any better. We have a local trading post magazine. People post Yorkies for sale in it all the time. I had thought about sending in an ad explaining that their is no such thing as a TC Yorkie and that if they have any questions they should call AKC for more info. Can you imagine how many people that would piss off. LOL

| I am just supprised at how many yorkie owners ask me if bailey is a "teacup" you would think that if you own a yorkie you would at least know a little about the breed. Before I bought bailey I spent months researching the breed and finding just the right breeder. Its so sad how little time people really spend gathering information about the breed they own. Getting a dog is a huge event in your life and you would think( if you were a responsible person ) that you would at least spend a little time learning and educating yourself a little before you make that huge step to add a little one to your family! Instead we have a bunch of idiots paying outrageous prices for the non existant "teacup" yorkie. |

| I was at my sister's high school the other day, and apparently I came on the wrong day, because some girl that I didn't know brought her 8 week old yorkie to school that day. (She had him with her ALL day in a bag. ) and apparently, she thought she had a teacup yorkie. My friend came up to me and said that Wobie must be a really tiny teacup, because he was smaller at 10 weeks than that other yorkie at 8 weeks. After telling him off about how a yorkie shouldn't be paraded around a school all day like a fashion accessory, I told him that Wobie will not be any smaller than 5 pounds. I told him to tell that girl that her baby would be at least 7 pounds, if not bigger, and that if she wanted to get rid of her big boy and replace him with a so-called "teacup" I'd be happy to take the poor thing off her hands.

| People ask me all the time if Sukoshi is a teacup too! It's very frustrating, but the more people we educate, maybe these breeders will have to stop advertising for something that doesn't even exist! |
