| No shoes for my Bijou. I did buy her a couple sweaters as she was so cold this winter. I had never had to worry about that with my other animals so this was a first for me. I never had my human babies wear shoes either. GOD built the feet to do their best walking barefoot. I feel the same for dogs.

| Rocky had boots for the winte (he lost one though) and at first he walked really funny, but after a few days he got used to them. I like to put them on in the winter so the snow isn't as cold on his paws.

| My dog thinks they are cruel, I never followed through with teaching him to stop minding them. Once on his feet, he starts biting them or shakes them off (a comic view!) or, even funnier, runs around with his legs all stiff looking like a weird little horse

I'm 2 for 2 in teaching Yorkies to tolerate them. I know it's possible.

Don't give up! If you can get your dog to tolerate them, it totally opens up winter to exercise and walks.

| And if you don't mind ordering online I put a link up on like page 1 of this thread with the boots Peeka Boo has. Basically, dogs/puppies are like little kids, they'll fight you the whole way until they realize that they need them. Peeka hated his harness UNTIL I took him outside for the first time and he realized he needs it to get outside. He hated his Jacket(he used to hold his arms stiff, fall over and refuse to get up) until he realized that it keeps him from shivering when its cold outside. AND he HATED those boots until he went outside in the snow, then he was running and jumping in it, having a good time. Oh, the joys of being a mother. |

I groomed three of my dogs here in the last few days that are in their forever homes, the owners had moved to Alberta. They had a brutal winter there this year and they bought boots for the dogs as without the boots when the dogs went out the powdery snow would melt a bit from the heat of the foot and freeze ice onto the feet. So they get their boots on go out to potty which they do quickly then the boots are taken off when they come in. The owner said they seem to know these boots help them and don't mind them too much to wear to go out with but do walk funny until they are off agan. | |

| Hi, I don't think they're cruel at all. Like most have already said, they are great during times when our babies could damage their paws. I do have a few pairs that are more of a fashion thing My Trixie hates them but Pia doesn't mind them at all. So when it comes to these kind I never bother Trixie and the second Pia seems to want them off, they're gone!! I like taking my babies to this one park with this huge pond. Unfortunately, duck poo is always over the side walks so I always like to have shoes on them then. The thought of them walking on that and then licking their paws scares me. I guess its up to each owner but I definately don't think they're cruel
