Are shoes cruel for our yorkies????? Hiya, Just wondering if you think I am crazy or not. I recently brought some shoes for my 2 yorkies and my partener loves them but so many people told me this is cruel. My Boo-Boo and Pheoebe haven't got used to it, but they are so funny walking in them.My poor babies. They look at me with that ''if you don't take this shoes off now, i'll bite u'' look. Just precious:aimeeyork |
I think the little shoes are just adorable, But I never have got any for my babys. It just seems like to much trouble and im sure they would rather not wear them. They have pads on their feet so I dont bother. JMO. but they are too cute. |
:D hehehehehehe! I think like people have a hard time finding the right fit, maybe this could happen to them. I also want to buy shoes for my babies but mostly when winter comes...... |
My shoes are pink for the girl with crystals in and black for the boy with white fur on top. They look cracking. He also has an outfit with ''gold digger'' on it and the girl has one with ''pampered'' on it. Just cuties |
I don't think CRUEL is really the word, but I don know that Keeley HATES them. Everytime we put them on him he starts walking in s-l-o-w m-o-t-i-o-n. It is so funny and so cute. |
As for being 'cruel' I guess it depends. In my own opinion (and others may disagree), I don't think dog shoes for "looks" are necessary. Maybe a cute set of bunny slippers to be used for a photo session, but not for day to day use. However, booties that will protect their feet in the winter is a good idea. I'll probably get them for Tia so she doesn't cut her pads on ice, and I dont' want that salt stuff to get caught in her feet and for her to lick them after (I think the stuff is toxic, if not just 'bad' for them). |
Shoes have some benefits. They can protect their pads from hot pavement or salt, snow and ice in the winter. Vets have warned that overuse can soften the pads and therefore damage occurs. Also, the sizing is very important. Sometimes the front feet and rear feet will require different sizes. |

If they need them, it isn't cruel. My mother hated them and so did Peeka Boo, but when we had this ice/snow storm, we put them on him and he was so happy to have them. If its like 70 degrees and somebody just thinks its cute to put a dog in sandals, then its kind of unnecessary. |
thats what i mean cruel for them to wear for no reason and it can de form there joints... in winter i do understand |

That's a very good reminder to put out there! As for cruel, I guess not. Silly..... yes, IMO. I may not be saying that if we lived somewhere very cold and icy or if I walked my dog on 150 degree asphalt but I don't so I just never thought doggie shoes were necessary and would probably laugh if I saw one wearing them. But of course.... to each their own! |
i totally understand that but people are harming their dogs by making them wear them for usless stupid and pathetic reasons... jsut to make them happy... HELLOOOOo dogs have feelings to |

Yes, if only those dogs could talk and tell if that they are highly embarrased to be seen in public wearing some of the things we put on them!! :D Then again, I've heard people say that their dog prances around like a little model when dressed. I bet all of those poor pooches can't be totally pleased with their mommies though! |
