| Oh my Gosh !!!! Gia has demodex mite the doctor was explaining it to me, but to be honest I really don't know what it is (i'm about to read up on it). I'm so hurt, I broke down in the vet office I had to leave her at the vet until 5pm today she has to get special baths & take antibiotics. She will have to go for those special baths every two weeks until it clears up. worst case scenario her hair is going to have to be shaved off . But as long as she's alight I don't care The vet said it was good I brought her in, I'm going to go there from now on I was suppose to be getting Gia's brother this Friday but the vet told me to hold off because he could end up with the same problem because they are from the same litter If anyone knows more about this demodex mite please let me know what to expect & what i should do |

| Chachi had mites. They are really hard to get rid of. No wonder she had sores and was in so much pain. When Chachi had it he lost all the hair on his back and had open wounds all over. He had nto be dipped in a real strong solution 6 times every ten days. He only ended up going to 5 dips because they were making him sick. It sounds like they are doing the same thing to her. After the dips he was fine and his hair grew back and he didnt have any more problems with them. My vet said that all dogs have mites but when a dogs immune system is down they can multiply and that is when there are problems. I hope she is better soon. You will see improvement after a couple of the dips

| I just did a quick search on it too. Glad to hear Chachi got all better. It did say that a healthy dog getting this usually has an underlying problem...something that has brought the immune system down. I feel so bad for you and Gia. I will pray that she has a total recovery with no other problems. Please keep us updated. |

I did read that it is not hereditary. Sometimes wording makes it sound this way. It does say that if an animal gets this and has a hard time getting rid of it that it should not be bred. It says that breeding a dog while it has this will make it much worse. I'm no professional, that's for sure...I just started reading about it myself. The site I went to had info. then a nice Q/A section below that was very helpful in understanding it.

| I have two yorkies and My vet never expressed any concern over the other one getting mites from Chachi so I think you are fine getting the new puppy. You didnt do anything wrong. Chachi got his after having an allergic reaction to a flea bite. They can get them that simply

I honestly don't think right now would be a good time to get another one. I would wait till little Gia is all better and you find that she has a mild case that she can become immune to herself. It does say once they have it (a normal case), then they become immune to it and should never get it again. YOU didn't do anything wrong...it just happens. Don't beat yourself up, you didn't do it. However, maybe the different shampoo set of the reaction and alerted you to the problem that already existed....a blessing in disguise.

Some years ago I used a new dematting spray on my Liana. Over time she was coughing and choking but was so gradual I couldn't pinpoint what she was reacting to. After a few Vet visits then realizing the new thing in the house was the spray, I threw it out bathed her a couple of times and she was fine ever since. She had actually reached the point of difficulty in breathing. Scared me to death.

| I just got Gia from the vet. My poor Baby, she looks so miserable. She didn't even want to give kisses when I got her. I think some of the meds to stop the scratching has made her sleepy she's just laying around. I gave her some food & she ate & then it was time for more meds Now she's just laying in my bed sleep, i have to take her back for another deep on the 1st |

| Awe, the poor little baby. Sounds like holding her won't even comfort her right now. Let her sleep as much as possible. I hope she gets a miracle recovery. She is definetly in my thoughts. The reason I thought right now wouldn't be a good time to get another one is because of Gia and how worried you will be about her. She is going to need a lot of your attention. However, you know what is best for you and your little girl. Please know I am wishing you the very best. |
