What's with Gia's skin ???? The other week I decided to go to this upscale pet store in my area & while I was there I notice Paul Mitchell had shampoo for dogs (if anyone doesn't know he also has human hair products & their usually quite costly but good). So i decided to pick Gia up some shampoo & conditioner the total came to 30 bucks:eek:  but I thought I was doing the right thing (using better shampoo & conditioner would help her coat) Well, that same night I came home & washed her, her coat was so pretty & shiny I was real happy with the results:) :) Well, about two days later Gia starts to scratch & scratch. Something told me to get a look at her scalp. Once I looked I also screamed to the top of my lungs !!!!! She had red bumps and dandruff all throughout her scalp So I gave her another bath using the regular shampoo & conditioner I had used before thinking it may clam things down, I even put neosporin on her scalp. It helped for that night but it was back to scratching the next day So I went to PETCO & brought dandruff shampoo, the shampoo helped with her dandruff but she still had the red bumps & still was scratching Yesterday I noticed she still was scratching but now she begin to whine & when I put her in my arms her body was so warm & her skin was so inflamed, I called the vet today they don't have an appointment available until tom morning (that's to long of a wait, my baby is in pain) The receptionist suggested I go back to PETCO & get some tea tree spray to help Gia stop scratching, well it's work but the bumps are still there (it smells horrible too) Hopefully when I go to the vet tom they will make her all better. She really hasn't been playing much just sleeping (she still is eating though). i notice her ears are real red in the inside & her eyes rims are also red. i think she had an allergic reaction to the shampoo I hope she will be better tom. I feel so bad, I threw the shampoo & conditioner out. |
Oh, the poor thing. It actually made me feel sickish reading this. She has had an allergic reation to it apparently. Sheesh, I'd hate to have to wait until tomorrow also. In the meantime, ask your vet about giving her a half a baby aspirin. It really should be safe for her. I'd also take the PM product back with a picture of what happened to Gia and demand a full refund. Some Yorkies are more sensitive than others. I do hope Gia is feeling better SOON...please keep us updated. |
Hi I would say alergy also Take The (PM) back they should give you a full refund . I know that if you buy Profeshional products from a salon they are fully refundable. Also ask the vet if you can give benadril. I feel so bad for your baby, I hope she is better soon. |

I really don't like the receptionist at me vet, but I love the doctor. I know she could have squeezed Gia in today, I called first thing in the morning (they opened at 8am I called by 8:03am) she's just a snob. I told her I was willing to wait for a few hours if I had to, that's when she said take her to PETCO & get some tree tea spray, we don't like people & their pets hanging around in the office. I'm really considering taking her to the ER (even though it's more $$$$) & finding another vet I hate to see my baby in pain & there's nothing I can do, I'm about to call back & see about the aspirin thing (thanks for suggesting that) She looks so sad right now, she's sleeping in my lap as I type & Gia is not a lap pup (so that's how I know she isn't feeling well) |

Some people just shouldn't be allowed to deal with the public! |
I would call another vet. I have always been able to get into my vets the same day for emergencies. It sounds like an allergic reaction to me too |
I'm looking for another vet now, i just gave her a tea tree cool bath & she screamed the whole time I just got off the phone with another vet , she hasa 12:40 appointment today :D :D :D |
:( You know what I do is never call a vet in advance I only call if I think it can wait if not I just walk in lol they take me but I get charged 15 dollars more for emergency visit but it's all worth it once you know your baby will be okay. |
Your poor little baby! I'm glad you were able to get an appt at another vet - it definitely sounds like an allergic reaction. Hope they can get her all fixed up. |
Gosh, I hope your baby will get better soon! I asked my vet awhile back about an allergic reaction and what I should do in the event of one (Max gets into everything when he goes outside, and we've got fire ants and scorpions on occasion, and black widows here) and he told me that of course, I would take him to the vet, but that I could give him some Benadryl....diphenhydramine, if you want the generic stuff. He told me to use the pediatric liquid and then the amount is determined by weight. So I went to the drugstore and got a bottle of it, just to have on hand in case of emergency. I think it's a good idea to have a little emergency kit for them, so ask the vet the dose for your dog and then write it down and put it on the bottle's label, so you won't forget. Also, I read that a baking soda and water paste can help inflammations and irritations and Milk of Magnesia (only I'd be worried that the dog might lick it and then, have other problems:confused: ). Good luck with your little girl. Let us know how she's doing! |
Please let us know what the vet says. So sorry to hear the little one feels so awful. |
Me again....checking to see how Gia is. I HATE when people at a vets office act snotty (or anywhere else for that matter)! Obviously if you HAVE to call there you are already not having a great day. I really REALLY think you should call, speak to the vet and tell him how she acted. A snotty receptionist did this to my Mom in the middle of a crises and she ended up loosing some puppies. They might not care about your pet, but YOU sure do. Also, the vet will care VERY much that he may have lost a client...and probably would have squeezed your girl in if he'd known. |
Poor baby. I hope she feels better soon. It’s a good thing she has such a good Mom to take care of her. Maybe that receptionist was having a bad day? Or is she always like that? She should have recommended the tree tea spray right away. I hate when you have to coax people into doing their jobs. |
