| well hopefully we all did go to school, where we learned about percentages of increase. $5 to $75 is a 1400% increase, $800 to $1,800 is a 125% increase. Your argument makes no sense since you are justifying your price of your rabbits the same way as a reputable yorkie breeder justifies the price of their dogs and the tone you choose to use when addressing people that do put a lot of effort into what they do for this breed is insulting.

| All I'm saying is why are some breeds of dogs more expensive then other breeds. & I'm comparing say a 10th generation show quality weimer ($800) to a 10th generation show quality yorkie ($2000); All things being the same, such as vet costs, # of pups, research, & effort on the breeders part. The only difference is that yorkies are in demand. There is nothing wrong with this it is simply business. Yorkies are a product that is in high demand therefore they can be priced higher than other breeds. However, I do find it distressing when the prices are different for different pups out of the same litter. I am not talking male & female, because I understand that females are in higher demand therefore they will be priced higher. However, I do have a problem with breeders charging different prices depending on size.

| I might add!! 2 breeding rabbits can yield on average $9000 per year @ $75.00 per bunny me think this spells BIG PROFIT, crowded house but BIG PROFITS!

Once again the whole reason why I said they are priced to high was because alot of breeders say they do it for the love and don't make a profit. Go back and read my other posts did I ONCE ever say I did not make a profit. I never said that.

Seriously folks, it is up to each breeder to decide how much time, effort and money they have put into their practice and what they therefor feel is a fair price. If you don't like it, don't buy a dog from them, bottom line. I personally think that 28,000 for a new Mustang is a rip off, but Ford dealers accross America aren't likely to change their mind because I complain about it here. | |

| I totally agree with ALL the opinions stated so far! That is a hard call.... Maybe she was saying that it shouldn't be sooo much (you know, prices in the thousands, etc). I don't know though. I totally agree about paying an adoption fee for the rescue of an animal from a pound or something (after all, they do so much for those animals before we get them). - You know, spay/neuter, micro-chip, vacs, etc. Also, a breeder needs payment (no matter if it is a hobby, "accident" or business). I do not breed, but I do know it takes a lot of time and money and if you charge a fee, (not always) but it somewhat weeds out people that are not "good" for the animal. I guess, in a perfect world....everything would be free or cheaper.
