I totally agree with ALL the opinions stated so far! That is a hard call....
Maybe she was saying that it shouldn't be sooo much (you know, prices in the thousands, etc). I don't know though.
I totally agree about paying an adoption fee for the rescue of an animal from a pound or something (after all, they do so much for those animals before we get them). - You know, spay/neuter, micro-chip, vacs, etc.
Also, a breeder needs payment (no matter if it is a hobby, "accident" or business). I do not breed, but I do know it takes a lot of time and money and if you charge a fee, (not always) but it somewhat weeds out people that are not "good" for the animal.
I guess, in a perfect world....everything would be free or cheaper.
