| [QUOTE=YorkieShadow]Great post I Love all Yorkie sizes. Both of mine weigh. 5 lbs and so that is a good size but after a good poop I guess mine are considered tinies. lol Cause they weight less then 5 lbs? I dont know ...All I know is I love my babies no matter what size they end up being.all that matters to me is that they are at a good healthy weight give or take a pound .........I just dont care as long as they are healthy. So If I had a tinie Yorkie 3 lbs would I brag ??? Oh yes I would and If I had a Yorkie that weighed 15 lbs would I brag ? Yes I would. They are still Yorkies no matter what size they are.[/QUOTE Me too! I brag no matter what! Beauty can't be denied! In the end, size means nothing! |

| I have a x-large Yorkie, that I love dearly and wouldn't want him any other way. But some days I envy those with the smaller ones as I could take him more places & get him really cute clothes. I understand the concerns about breeding for tinies, but as long as your yorkie is healthy, happy and well loved isnt that all that really matters. Desiree |

| I can't stand it when I see people looking for a puppy that ONLY care about size though. I saw one where a lady was like "I need to know how much she will weigh and the sizes of the parents. The dog needs to be between 2-3.5 lbs" No conern for papers, bloodline, only size. What will that person do if she does get big? Find her a different home? Unfortunately I've seen it happen before on here. Come on people, we're not purse shopping, this is a life you're going to be in charge of for the next 14 or so years! You really can't even tell the difference in a few lbs. I just don't understand why people care so much about weight. Love them no matter what size they end up being! |

I can't agree with you more! I love them all! But there are some who only care about the size/weight. I get the word "cobby" alot in my inquiries. I have a past client who feels that way. No way did I know the baby would get over 7 lbs when he was a wee little thing at 10 weeks. but he did. And I'm actually glad he didnt stay small, because i think he looks very "noble". My client stopped talking to me or emailing me with updates on my precious boy because of this. Went looking and found a "smaller" puppy. It's devastating as a breeder to go through this. All I'm trying to do is produce healthy babies who are not sickly, and are good examples of the standard. I can't control the world. And I would never intentionally breed my babies down to try to please the "select few" out there who want that. There are plenty of "questionable" places to look outside of my loving home. I have small babies from time to time. But I'm not striving for that! | |

I think it's one thing to have a yorkie but it's another thing for yorkie OWNERS to say what 'kind' of yorkie you own. Who cares and what does it matter? (Especially on this site for crying out loud!) As a woman, I try and try, and am healthy, and my weight is ___ but my best friend barely tries and tries and her weight is still ___! So humans or yorkies, we're all different! IT doesn't mean that skinnier is better or anything like that! I DID MY RESEARCH! I called over 50 breeders asking about bloodlines, potential health problems, and yes, weight of parents. I wanted to have the best possible chance of having an AKC breed-standard yorkie. Sully's parents were both 6 lb'ers. Ok, so um, Sully is a year-and-a-half old now and is right under 9lbs. Does that mean he's not a yorkie? NO! And does that mean the "tinies" or "teacups" or whatever title you want to give them to divide them from the rest are better? NO!!! Don't ask about my yorkie's temperament! Don't ask about his length or height! Ask about his dang weight and go ahead and igorantly claim that you are more 'elite' for owning a smaller-sized yorkie. I have no time for ignorance. This site used to be somewhere we'd all brag about our yorkies. Now it's all about size and I'm utterly DISGUSTED.

Was this on some previous thread? The only one I have seen using that word is you. And calling people ignorant when they just want to show pics of their babies is just uncalled for. I think everyone here thinks all yorkies are beautiful, no matter what the size, the topic just happened to be show pics of the tinier yorkies. |

I remember one person saying that people who don't own tinies were jealous and people who don't own tinies shouldn't post there if their feelings were hurt. Sorry I can't quote it. I was the one who used the word elite because that was the impression I was getting. I don't want this thread to get closed because of arguing so.. |
