| As with anything you have to work within your budget and be a wise shopper. When puppies are little they are all cute- well most of the time. We have seen many of those pictures posted on here by folks looking for a puppy. They will ask if this sad poor representative of the breed is a "good deal" You as the buyer have to make those determinations. Will a puppy cost more from someone who keeps them until they are older yes- they have more shots and wormings and more TLC then a 6 week old puppy. We have the folks upset because they don't know how to take care of this puppy. Look at all the queswtions here on YT. You don't know how much to feed that puppy- how to trim the ears- what to do if a ear falls or if they just don't stand up. When you buy from a good breeder you know what to feed and how much- they go over ears, and all sorts of things that you need to know. They are there after you purchase the puppy. Look at the threads complaining about the puppies temperment- size -coloring and poor coat. How many of these are those $1,000.00 and less puppies. There are nice puppies to be found for less then $1,000.00 but there are not as many as you might think. It is like buying a car- with all the bells and whistles- if you want a pedigree with CHampions, full registration, after the purchase help and health warranties, older puppies, better medical care and a nice representative of the breed you are going to pay for it. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | In my area of WV they go for $500 and up for males and $800 and up for female. My first Yorkie I only paid $250 for him because the breeder said he was going to be big and I drove to KY to get him that was over 10 years ago. He only got to 9 pounds which I thought was pewrfect with my small kids. My female I have now was $400 because she was 7 months old when I got her.

| I haven't read all the replys, but I'm starting to think I got a STEAL! I got Merlin north of Dallas Texas for $325 in 98' and Mickey for $350 in northern Oklahoma in 01'. Both are registered and came from reputable breeders. They have made up for the costs via vet bills, but despite the costs.. they are worth every penny!!! |

| The breeder that we just got Isabella from sells her males for $550 and her females for $750, we're in Missouri. I've seen several listings around here for yorkies even less than that, ranging from $500 and up, even for females.

| Home-raised (great little puppies) in my area (Spokane, Washington) go for $750 to $850. These are puppy-puppies - not breeding or show quality - even though some of them probably could be used for these purposes. But - let's be honest - even $500 or $300 can be a fortune for a lot of people. I know a lot of people struggling to pay their heating bills this winter in Spokane (and this is a very warm winter)! | My first yorkie that I ever had I paid 250.00, that was almost 11 years ago. My ex-husband still has that yorkie. He was around 7 lbs and very healthy. When I bought Raven I paid 600.00 for her. I did incur some expenses at first, because the breeder gave me her at 8 weeks. Shes fine and very healthy now. She weighs in close to 4lbs. My next yorkie I should be getting at the end of the month. He is a male and I'm paying 1000.00 for him. He comes from a very good breeder, with a 1 year guarantee. He is suppose to be around the 4 lb. range. I live in Illinois and see these babies going anywhere from 400 -1500 range. Kim

| I purchased Otis for $1,000 -- but I only found two breeders in my area that I felt comfortable with. There aren't many breeders that I know of in Utah.I could have looked out of state, but I wanted to spend time with Otis' "parents" and to get a feel for how Otis was socialized. I had heard too many horror stories and I didn't want to take any chances. It was well worth spending the time finding a perfect match.... |

| I bought Chico for $1100.00 with no special blood lines. I know on the net I could have found a better deal but Iwas too scared too pay so much and not get a puppy. I wanted someone that was very knowledgeable and had both parents on site and someone I connected with so I can call on. I am very happy with my furbaby even though alot of people stare at me wierd when I say how much he was.

| yorkies under 1,000. They are out there. But the internet is a better way sometimes to get more money. If a breeder sells locally, many times they do not get as much money. Does not always mean an unhealty puppy. It does mean usually better contact with breeder and if good, and price does not show good always. the breeder will be there for them. There are some pretty ugly looking yorkies for sale at times, on petfinders and those places. I know some one who bought from a huge show breeder, bought the yorkie at 6 months, was told all shots were given, the dog got parvo and was another 1,200 to keep her alive at the vets. she paid at that time, 1,200 as the puppy was already 6 months old. Breeder was no help what so ever. In fact was not nice at all. Called the buyer an idiot. The yorkie was so aggressive would attack any other dog in it's site. It is sad but there are all kinds out there.... |
