| You can pay less then a $1,000.00 for your puppy. In the Indy paper I see puppies from $500.00 to $1,800.00. Many are not AKC registered, many are 5-7 weeks of age. When you call and ask questions the breeders know nothing about the breed or have them advertised as Teacup, toy and standard. Many have never been to the vet and have no health warranty at all. I had a person call me over the holidays she bought a puppy out of the paper right before Christmas and it died on New Years day. Went thru all the do's and don'ts. She is buying another puppy out of the paper because her family can't wait. She would have been better off to have paid more for that healty baby that had a health warranty. Instead she has the cost of purchasing two puppies and the $1,000.00 that she stated she paid in medical for the dead puppy. Some people never learn. That cheap puppy is not always cheap- may have numerouse health problems and may not be the quality that you are looking for. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | In Dallas, we got Sailor for $700...she was from a local breeder and is very healthy!! We have seen them as high as $1500 and as low as $600. I think you just need to look around and find the yorkie that is right for you!! Some people want to pay more then go ahead, but there are perfect little healthy yorkies that are under $1000!!

| My female yorkie Lacey was $400 in 1992. Just purchased another female yorkie puppy. She was $950. My mom put a deposit down of $450 to hold her until she is old enough to go home. I will pay the other half then because I should have my income tax money by then. We purchased her from a local breeder only a 10 minute drive from our home. The going rate around here for females is $800-900. But, if you go to New Orleans or Baton Rouge, (which are cities an hour away from me) they are mostly asking for at least $1500. Our groomer was trying to breed her two yorkies and was going to charge us $650 for a female. But, pregnancy did not take place because her male was still too young. My mom had an original budget of paying only $650. Until I told her it would be near impossible to get a puppy for that price. Especially a female. We did look into rescues, but they were all out of state. So, I finally talked to my mom about going half and half. And she finally let up. Now, I am just counting the days until Chloe is old enough to go home!

| I paid $500 for my male & I'm purchasing a female at the beginning of March. The breeder charges between $1000-$1800 for her females & I'm willing to pay any of that to get the healthiest baby I can! I am in the SE Kansas area.

| I purchased/adopted Bridget at 11 months from a gal in the Bay area (CA) that I found on Craig's List for $1,000. She was already spayed and up to date on her shots. With the exception of a few little teeth problems/expenses, she's been perfectly healthy and an absolute joy every day! |

| I paid $400 for my male yorkie, Reuger, in southeast Kansas. His parents were household pets. I got to meet his parents and sister, so I had a good idea what he's going to look like when he gets his full colors. The breeder worked for a vet so I felt confident that he was in good health. I think that I really got a great deal.
