Less than $1,000 I know that there have been a lot of threads on how much you bought your yorkie for. On another thread in the "Yorkies for Sale or Wanted" section today, someone questioned the fact that yorkies are available for less than $1,000. (http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...926#post368926) I think that this has to do with the poster's location because prices are generally higher in his or her area. I hate to see people coming here and seeing posts that say yorkies are only priced really expenisively because I know many of our members have gotten yorkies for less than $1,000. I would hate for someone to see this and think this breed is out of his or her financial reach. So, if you have purchased your yorkie for $1,000 or less, please share this, and if possible from where you bought the yorkie. I want members who come here to see that there is a possibility of owning this breed without spending thousands of dollars. Thanks! (For me personally, the first yorkie I seriously looked at was $850 and was from Ohio) |
Im in Indianapolis and got my male yorkie for 600. Females were 900. |
It does depend on location. In today's ad of the Houston Chronicle, you can find yorkies as low as $600 and goes up from there. The Houston Chronicle |
Both My Girls were under a thousand. I actually looked for an average sized yorkie in my searches - the word TINY never entered my vocabulary.... In my search for a yorkie - I had to stay within my means and my goal was HEALTHY....I'm so lucky to have found my girls..... and NO - you shouldn't have to spend thousands to have a beautiful yorkie - I have 2 girls that are just a blast and are both in perfect health..I feel blessed. :) |
My cousin bought a female Yorkie about 8 months ago for $750 in BROOKLYN NY! What a steal that was! :p |
I got both of my females from here in Missouri for 600 each which is very reasonable but the price of living is pretty cheap here compared to other places in the country. I also have known the lady that I got Chloe from for a very long time since I was little. |
I paid 600 for Gidget and 700 for Chloe! :p They are well worth it but that is the going prices around me! I have seen them for 1000 in our paper but not a whole lot are that price! |

In the Dallas/Ft Worth paper they start at $600. I paid $900 for one of my girls and $1000 for one of my boys and both have champion bloodlines! I paid just $1300 for Rainbow and she has 39 champions in her bloodline. I have seen pups in TX area for as high as $3500.00 BUT it is absolutely not necessary to pay anywhere near that! |

I think anyone charging those kinds of prices is gouging the consumer....and if someone WANTS to spend that much - let them.... but it sure makes it harder for the average person to afford a yorkie if the prices keep going up. |
I live in Ohio and Yorkies are in the paper anywhere from $600 up. I got mine from a friend of the family so I only paid $300 for both!! $600 total for two *awesome* dogs is a STEAL! :D |
The only way you can pay less than $1,000 in Southern CA is from a Backyard breeder who is breeding her two pets. (they don't look much like Yorkies) Pet shops might sell them at that price too? Don't know, didn't look there. A reasonable price directly from a reputable breeder is $1,500-$2,500. The price range varies depending on sex (males are cheaper) and size (smaller cost more) |
I paid $700.00 for Lucy 1 " RIP baby" and I paid $850.00 fro Lucy Too In NC around my area yorkies go anywhere from $600.00 to 1,200.00 |
I paid 2500 for Princess. But there was one I could have had for 800. Princess was the one who stole my heart, so I paid more for her. I know every State is different. Out here you can find Yorkies from 800 & up. There are so many Yorkies out there waiting to be loved, and they are not all high priced. I would think anyone looking for any breed would put health in front of price, it will save them a lot in the long run. :) |
