I personally am tired of all the back and forth blame game.

Had someone not called the foster mom (who's information was on the rescue website) we would not have learned the "personal" information about the dog not being fed correctly, having teeth problems, not having up to date shots, etc.
Those who took the original post at face value and believed the rescue was doing wrong then began to doubt that because it was obvious the OP had been less than truthful about things.

In the end the OP got what she wanted-her dog back. No one ran her off, it's obviously her style to post needing help and then not return to said post. I believe the rescue asked her to write a retraction and may have even worded it for her but I do not believe anyone forced or coerced her into posting said statement.

Move on. The wreck has been cleared, no one was hurt and the end result is a happy ending.

many people seem to think I had a hand in the dog getting returned, I just can't believe I did since it happened so quick after my phone call, but what the heck I can use a compliment at the moment so I will take it, Thanks but LOL I really don't believe I did

I think I have said everything left to be said on this topic, I am worn out by it and need to move on, so I am bowing out. I hope that like someone else said that the vet was over zealous and Tiki will not need surgery. Good luck to the OP and Tiki, and thanks to Save A Yorkie for stepping up in time of need

I too hope Tiki will not need surgery.

Thank you Save a Yorkie for helping a dog and their human in a time of need.

What a DISAPPOINTMENT!!! People jumping to conclusions with NO facts!
At least Donna went one step further to TRY to find out the whole story. Thank you Donna- SHAME on the rest of you! Although I did see few posts that did not fall for this fully.
I have NO desire to be part of this site. I am saving my energy and time to actually rescue dogs that need help! Sad to see Tiki go, but I have another one coming. I wish more of you would redirect your energy to do something to actually help these dogs.
Please do not be so quick to judge Yorkie Talk over what has transpired in this thread. We are as passionate as you are to help rescue dogs.

Your "Save A Yorkie" founder Marilyn Faughner (saymarilyn) has received nothing but help from Yorkie Talk members for over 6 years. As you can see from replies to her previous posts (which I will attempt to link below), YT members have been quick to help find homes for pups, transport, and support your events.

It's just unfortunate that this older lady seemed to be between a real rock and a hard place and then might - might have had to almost grovel for some reason and that seems wrong. I don't mind a rescue asking for a retraction but I do hope it wasn't conditional or the dog's return contingent upon it.

Hopefully, if I am totally misunderstanding the narrative, the rescue will forgive me for wondering if that were the case. When there aren't many facts, an older lady seems absolutely desperate for her dog that a rescue won't return, unflattering information is given out about her care of the dog and a personal habit brought into it, the rescue is told again of reactions here at some point and before or after that it all ends suddenly with a return of the dog w/a vet deal, followed by a terse leading statement laying out exactly what will be retracted and the OP comes on and makes carefully worded statements exactly along those lines, I, for one, was left wondering what did happened. Rescue mom said her piece after finding out what was being said here and I'm still confused but it seems to have worked out. I'm truly sorry if I completely misjudged either OP or rescue, but unless the dog were being neglected very badly in more ways than those mentioned, why not give it back or get Animal Control involved?

Anyway, thank you Donna for calling and I think helping getting the dog back to the lady. And thank you to the rescue for all the work you do to help dogs and people like the OP.

But anyway, such is the nature of YorkieTalk. We often don't have much to go on, usually believe credible-sounding members' desperate posts for help and err on their side much of the time until and if we hear another credible narrative laying out the other side or sides. All members are free to post their points of view on any subject here based on the knowledge we have at the time.

Sheesh, I went out window shopping this afternoon. It's really hard to stay out of Joann stores...have you seen the deals they have going on?!

Thanks Jeanie for putting so beautifully into words what my inept self neglected to say!

I'm certainly glad that the pup will get the help he needs. Without Rescues that really care I'm afraid many pups would fall into the "wrong" hands when owners fall victim to life's circumstances.

I agree as it is hard for me to give up even a stray dog or cat because the rescue group that I've delt with in the past will not even allow me to call and check up on the animal.

We are not really supposed to keep in touch with the family that surrendered the dog. Once or twice is fine, and I have had families contact me after the fact, just to see how they are settling in, but I cannot let them know who the dog has been adopted to. Usually a day or so after the dog is surrendered I do email with some questions and sometimes after the dog is surrendered they do offer a bit more info on them. So it's not uncommon for rescues to not allow that.

I stay in touch with people who surrender their pups until they no longer feel that need. There are many people who surrender their pups lovingly and I feel we owe them support. Of course we don't tell them who adopts their pup; but I do tell them all about the family and send pics as I get them as long as the adopter is ok with it.

This is one of the many reasons why I have such great respect for you. I'm sure this brings tremendous comfort to the people who selflessly have to give up their pups. I can't ever imagine being in that position, but I know for some, it is done because they can not properly care for a pup. I'm sure you see so many people that just discard their pup when he gets inconvenient for them, but for some it is a selfless act of love or a necessity beyond their control. Thank you for all that you do.

That's so like you to do that. And I know it means the world to those that do desperately want to know how their baby is doing. It's a kindness that says so much about you and YHR.

Thanks you guys for your kind words. I honestly don't know what I would do if I had to surrender one of mine. Most people who surrender really don't care...but for those who do, I cannot imagine not being kind to them.

My son has an owner surrender .. he has had him for about 8 years now. I had that one when I was with another rescue. His previous owner still writes from time to time to check on him. A couple of years ago she sent me his puppy pictures for my son to have.

Sadly, the OP has not been back online since 7/18. I'm pretty certain she got her pup back though.

Welcome to Yorkietalk!

I haven't read though all of the pages here, just enough to say wow, this thread scares me.

There are so many dogs in need of fostering and medical care. They simply can't take them all in. When someone demands that their dog be returned after surrendering them, that's time and resources diverted away from other dogs. What's to stop people from doing this all the time after a dog receives care? To accuse a rescue of STEALING a dog that you surrendered borders on libel to me.
