| Also, I would like to apologize for typing the wrong name in my last post. This is the 2nd time in 3 days I've done that. I may need to have a memory test done on myself. I hope it's just lack of sleep..ugh. Sorry again

I only live about 35 minutes from the VET. I will pick her up at 6:00 p.m., one hour before they close and have her back when they open in the morning at 8:00. So basically, for the time they are not on site, she will be home with me. I'm beginning to agree with what someone else said. This is about an overnight VET charge they want to get for basically doing nothing.

| I love my vet but he also insisted that Sadie stay overnight with no one there. His reasoning was that she needed to stay quiet and she would be more likely to get excited and overdo if she was with me. Our compromise was that he let me pick her up and transfer to the emergency vet where she would be observed overnight. Then we picked her up and brought her back in the morning. Could you do something like that?

That's an idea, although I hate the Emergency Vet location in Nashville. It's Downtown in a 'not so good' part of town and not well run in my opinion. I'd feel better if I could watch her and I know she would not be as stressed in her crate at home with me sleeping beside her.

| My vet told me the same thing - keep Izzy overnight though no one was going to be there, so she would rest (granted, we do have Jack and the 3 kitties, so it probably would have been a bit exciting for her to be home). I trust my vet and caved and let Izzy spend the night. She got her just desserts over on the vet though for keeping her away from us. When I picked her up the following morning, I was told she had an accident and pooped in her crate over night and they had to give her a bath. I figured that's what they deserved for not putting her out to go potty before they left for the evening and not having one of the vet techs spend the night on the days they do routine surgeries.

| I've had many, many females spayed (some mine some fosters) and never has any one of them had to stay overnight. If there was a medical problem during the spay, then it would be best to have them stay, but only if someone will be with them overnight. Even if the Vet. was an hour or two drive one way, I'd stay in a motel just so I could take her out on the same day of spaying and/or a return check the next day. Have you ask why they would even want to keep her overnight and especially without supervision?

That's funny. Good for Izzy. She should have waited until the vet examined her and pooped on him. These pups are so smart. Probably wasn't an accident at all, but a payback for keeping her from her Mom. I once took in a ferrel kitten and brought it to the vet for an exam. This particular vet could not hide her distain for a 'ferrel' kitten. She rolled her eyes and said I bet she is full of parasites and will have all kinds of health problems. The kitten peed all over her nice white coat. Smartest cat I ever had. Lived 18 years.

| If no one is going to be there I would demand that she comes home to many things could go wrong and might need you. I brought my Pixie home after her spay. I waited until the evening but she did come home.

| Many vets do this and it is not about money. Usually the pups just sleep all night...BUT would I allow it? NO! My vet knows better than to even suggest it to me. Many people get stressed out by the way the pups moan and whimper and that is why vets do this...because of owners who really get upset! My vet does not charge extra for the overnight stay.

The vet said to keep her as still as possible for the first 24 hours. I gather that is their normal practice for both dogs and cats.

| Lucy gets car sick but she was really out of it after the spay. The car ride was nothing. My Vet is 20 minutes away. I agree that you should have someone with you on the ride home. The other person can drive while you watch your baby or vica versa. My daughter came with me and monitored Lucy while I drove. I'd take her home. Tracey |

I had the same conversation with my vet's tech about the overnight stay. Piper is 3.3 lbs and has never been alone for a night. She sleeps in my mom's bed and cries if Mom even gets out of the room and she can't follow her. We haven't talked to Dr. H about it yet, because he wanted to wait to do Piper's spay until her adult teeth are more developed and the puppy teeth have a chance to fall out on their own. He already knows I will argue with him til the cows come home, AND that I have information to back up my argument (thanks to YT), so it shouldn't be an issue, lol.

| I do not suggest living your baby overnight when no one is there at least if she was at home with you, you would know if something wasn't right and could rush her to an er vet if she is all alone in a vets office when no one is there and something was wrong no one would know.
