My vet told me the same thing - keep Izzy overnight though no one was going to be there, so she would rest (granted, we do have Jack and the 3 kitties, so it probably would have been a bit exciting for her to be home). I trust my vet and caved and let Izzy spend the night. She got her just desserts over on the vet though for keeping her away from us. When I picked her up the following morning, I was told she had an accident and pooped in her crate over night and they had to give her a bath. I figured that's what they deserved for not putting her out to go potty before they left for the evening and not having one of the vet techs spend the night on the days they do routine surgeries.
