I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | What are you scared confused about? Basically the article said, "Wash your hands after giving a bullystick." If your dog has a weight problem, don't overdo any type of extra food, even if it's nutritious. Look at the analysis of your brand of bullysticks and see how much protein and fat and water it has. If it’s mainly protein, and less than 2% fat, that’s a great chewing aid. If it has too much water, it's too soft and dogs eat them rather than chew on them.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | When I joined YT everyone recommended Merrick Bully sticks, they are more expensive than the others and lots of people have been happy with other less expensive brands. I wanted something that was made in the USA, and Merrick is one of the brands that still make in the USA, and they come individually wrapped, another feature I like. I buy them in bulk, so that I'm able to get them for around $3.00 a stick and each stick lasts a week, so it's a pretty good deal.

| It can be confusing. There are different opinions and views. Just find your place in it. How about asking your fet? I don't like bullies. I don't like Merrick and don't trust them. I think this study is a good one. There are very limited studies that can be done on bullies. Authors were just looking to see about how any ay be contaminated. zand some are higher than 2% fat, but I think a better word would be high calorie. Even at an inch a day for the avg yorkie, it is too bg a part of the diet to be unbalanced (over time). Personally, potentialy mrsa or c diff positive chews of any sort aren't allowed here. And many dogs get gi upset from them (for good reason).

And if you walk in your house with shoes, you're bringing that onto your floors and carpets. That the dogs walk on. And then they lick their paws.

| Best Bully sells sticks that are baked and are less than 1% fat. They are hard and it takes a lot of work on the part of the dog to chew even a little bit of it. If a dog is chewing a bully stick down quickly it may be too soft or you may need a thicker bully stick. You can order a variety of different thickness and lengths on line. As Nancy1999 said the article was very misleading. It is beyond misleading to say they are high in fat. |

| The actual study says high calorie, not high fat. I think it is important for wners to knw what the study foundand not what an internet article writer interpreted it to be.

There’s a huge difference between high in fat and high in calories, dog food is high in calories, but it’s nutritious, and the calories aren’t empty. In my opinion, this is true of the bullysticks, with over 79% being protein, and 13 percent water, most of the calories are coming from protein so they aren’t empty calories that you see in most dog treats. My dogs work so hard to take off an inch, I think they are using a lot of calories as well.

| LOL I got Buster some Merrick Bully sticks yesterday. He was very frustrated he could not chew through them quickly. He was grumbling and throwing it towards me to fix it. I did try softening the end in the microwave and he was better about it. I really wish I could have recorded him complaining, it was hilarious.
