Bullysticks are now bad? :( |
 OOOHHH NOOOO say it ain't so :( Buster Brown and Mommy are both sad. I had wondered about the calorie count as we are trying to loose weight and I would give him a Bully stick to keep from begging for treats. I had not realized that they were that high in calories. |
This looks lie a study I ran across over a year ago. Bits and pieces have been posted on bully stick threads here. It is nota treat that I would consider giving. |
Looks like Linda was right. She has told me this for years. I haven't given mine bully sticks lately. And it's a shame because they love them! |
Bullysticks haven't been allowed in our house, they didn't sound like a good idea, too many things could go wrong... |
i always cut the yuck off and pick them up at night. i throw them out after a week if they last that long or get too short. i cannot not have something for these babies to chew on...pweeze for paws sake! |
I have a houseful of happy pups and none of them has ever had a bully stick since coming to my home. No need for them in order to have a happy pup. |
Buy small femur bones, boil and remove the marrow. They can't splinter them and are a very good chewing aid. |

Hmmmm.... Well, I will probably still allow my guys to have their special treats! They usually are allowed a bully stuck once every couple of months!! Lol... |
I'm going to say meh! on this report. The way it reads to me is the same as giving too much ice cream to a 1st grader. Given as an occasional treat as part of a balanced diet, they are harmless. Given all the time and not figured into a dog's overall intake, I can see a problem. As far as bacteria, a little common sense goes a long way. Anything your pup mouths and covers in saliva is going to be a bacteria magnet. Absolutely no difference in my mind in handling a bully and prepping a steak or a piece of raw chicken for cooking. I haven't given Sam a bully yet, but I won't rule it out - in moderation. /.02 |
