I have to say I agree. She at a younger age has not belittled any member and is just seeking advise. She as many of us have, and still are, learning how to care for our fur babies. I honestly feel we can express our "thoughts" and "opinions" in a more respectful manner while stil offering help to both this member and her fur baby. I would be astonished to find out that someone is pulling up my zip code and questioning everything I say. It takes but a second to help a YT member, it takes minutes to investigate their zip codes or whatever and then in return question another member. I myself have a teen daughter who is a new member on this forum and another forum. She is trying to learn all she can at being a better, more informed, educated pet owner. I would hope that when she posts that she gets more respect then this member here has. Let's all just maybe think back to when we too were just starting out as new fur baby owners and allowing ourselves to trust other peoples opinions and respectfully take them to heart.

I think that it's good that she is asking for advice. Since she is of a young age, she had no place else to turn. She's gotten advice on supplements until she can get better food for her furbaby. I hope that she takes our advice seriously for the sake of Chloe.

| I agree we are here to help the ones that ask for advise. What I am amazed to see is the fact that this is the same advise that was given today at 3:00, and it is now 11:00 and it's still the same advise.. Lost weight, too much weight, go to the vet, get on another food. put the weight back on, what is the debate. That's what I'm having a hard time understanding, when I logged on and saw the AMOUNT of hits on this thread, I was shocked, because I left today at 5 and I thought the questions had been answered.

| Well first off I agree she has been nice and some of the responses weren't as nice as they could've been. At the same time though I know that we all as yorkie lovers want the best for every yorkie not just our own and sometimes get a little worked up when we feel that it isnt' getting the best. However that doesn't excuse it, but LittleMissChloe just try to keep in mind that everyone here does have your puppy's best interest as heart. I know its easy to be offended, but everyone really does care about your puppy. Also I don't know how much of the blame can be placed on the girl anyway, I know at 16 I didn't have much control over our pets. I didn't pick out their food or decide when they went to the vet. Its hard at 16 to tell your parents hey your doing this wrong do it this way, sometimes its not even hard its impossible. I suggest maybe giving her the food she likes to get her weight back up and then mixing the two together to try to keep it at a good weight until you can get her different food. I will say though that my yorkie is 5.5-6 lbs and sometimes she looks a little chubby. I think its their shape, their bellies just make them look a little chunky, they are kind of round. Maybe this is just your case, she seems overweight to you but really isn't? I would really try and get her to a vet, because if nothing else he/she will tell you how much food to feed her until she gets to a good weight and then what to feed her to keep her there. Our lab has a weight problem so I know how much of a struggle it can be. Good luck...

Sorry, I didn't read the pages of debate. I should have. I don't buy the OP, so I'll shut up now. The dog would be dead if it lost 75% of it's body weight.

Let's weigh our options: 1.) Ignoreing her posts. Then the dog might die if we were wrong. 2.) Replying to her posts giving her the benifit of the doubt and having the puppy be more healthy and living. I'll pick #2 anyday.

And I have seen adults give them alot of leeway due to their age on this site. I hope it's not just because she's new as well. I would use age/being a newbie as an "excuse" for using the wrong terms or estimates. I know I would be mad if my daughter got on here and was acused of lying. I still think that she's a caring person for starting this thread and making a vet appointment.

| I'm thankful to all of you who have posted your advice on feeding this little girl. However..I am still not convinced that this isnt something else. My mother was 16 1/2 when she had me and I must say that she knew enough to know that if I had lost 75% of my body weight to take me to a doctor and not rely on a forum until I got better. I wasn't trying to be ugly or condescending to this person. I was just stating my feelings that I feel it is crazy to WAIT until your baby loses 3 lbs and not seek the advice of a vet and only the advice of a forum. I may be way out of line here to some of you. But that is how I feel. I love yorkies so much that I get a little angry and over whelmed at times when I see one that was purchased without alot of thought put into it's long term care. |

EXACTLY!! You guys don't realize that when you're 16 and living at home, sometimes things are out of your control. I admire her for coming to this board to ask for help in the first place.

| I am fairly new to YT as well and I must say I was very disappointed with the way some members handled this case and how disrespectful they were towards this new member. Not everyone has the experience some other members have here but we as new members and parents of yorkies WANT to learn from you and your experiences. This is the reason we turn to YT. Of course there are some instances where common sense should be activated and immediate action should be taken but you cannot expect everyone to react in the same manner. I just want to pinpoint that we should first consult our vets and not expect all our answers from this place. This important forum should be used as additional help and entertainment. I hope I did not offfend anyone. That was not my intention. If I did its probably because english is my second language
