There is no such thing as miniature Yorkie . I find this post very strange . Loosing weight like that and doing nothing , it is very weird .

Again,, I say,,, If 5 pounds is FAT and 2-3 pounds the ribs are showing,,, how can 5 pounds be overweight?

Are you trying to make her a Wee little Miniature Yorkie.. when it sounds like she should weigh the standard normal weight of 5-7 pounds?

Wow... whats up with this? I post a concern for my puppy and people start attacking me. "Shame on her" ...whats up with that? The dear girl was overweight trust me (and i know you said if its not the case you appoligise, its accepted). And i can guarentee you the place i'm from is not big, there is a total of 1200 people and only 2 stores where dog food is available, and its all junk that the bigger towns didnt have room for. Sorry for my vent, i appologise, but some of you are making it seem like I'm a horrible furmomma, and i guarentee you thats not the case.

Talk it over with your mom and see if you can order some good quality dog food on line. It may cost you a little more, but it will last you a long time and you'll end up saving in the end on vet bills.

YOU asked for our advise, and that's what you got,, I still dont get how a difference of 2-3 pounds can go from ribs showing to FAT? That's what I.m having a problem with?

PLEASE Get that baby some GOOD food and let her free feed - it seems she's drastically lost weight and she really needs to eat and be a good safe weight - a good way to judge is you should feel th eoutline of her ribs THRU her skin.... but not bones !!!

Going from 5 to a tiny 2 lbs is dangerous and she really needs to have her weight get back where it should be....Also - there really aren't "Minature' yorkies - you sound like you have a normal sized baby and she just needs proper food and hopefully you won't lose her to starvation or illness.

I wish you luck - there are all sorts of places to get HIGH quality dog food but I would stay away from the low cost foods you see on TV....they're full of bad stuff

thank you red98vett, i really appriciated that post. I really did think there were miniture and standard yorkies though. I will most certainly talk it over with my mom to get her food online.

LOTS of people see teacup or Mini and think it's an actual name for a yorkie - as in Miniture poodles - if you're interested in more information on Yorkies there's some great sites where you can learn all about sizes etc.

Many stores even carry the Eukanuba or Iams (Even though we should boycot Iams) it IS good food - Supermarkets and Grocery stores carry these now - and always - Petco and Petsmart

People (me included) tend to get a little up in arms when we try to help sometimes - We want ALL yorkies to have the best care and tend to be very passionate - Good luck

has she been to a vet? are you feeding her a little bit of canned food too? Reguardless of what you feed her, she needs to go to a vet. The drastic weight loss could be from something else. I hope she's healthy, but those are red flags. If she grew up to 5 lbs, then that is her ideal weight imo. If the breeder told you she was a "mini" then she was probably wrong. I would want her back up to that weight asap. Good luck!

Im sorry but your dog SHOULD NOT have lost 3 pounds due to giving her food she wont eat. Do you happen to have a vet where your at?? if so..the vet DOES sell dog food.

This is very true and in fact the vets have a high calorie food Hills Prescription PD which would help her gain that weight back.
