| I would invest in a trash can that you have to hit the peddle on to open it. When Callie was a puppy and would get into the small trash cans we got all trash cans with peddles and then the kitchen trash is in a big wood thing that has a wood lid. I hope your baby will be ok. I would not leave him alone for a day or so in case he does start showing symptoms. I will keep him in my prayers.

| He still looks good, although he hasn't eaten his kibble. It's been all about Kimbo this evening. DH and I have been hugging and kissing him all night. We even took him for a late night drive by the bay at 10:30 pm. He loves to smell the salt water air. I bathed him just now because he sleeps better after a bath. I'll have an update tomorrow afternoon. Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers. I'd be a mess without you. Sweet dreams pizza face

| I wouldn't worry too much. My dogs have gotten into pretty strange things in their lifetime and the most effect was a little upset tummy. The only time I would worry was a dog ingesting poison. My dog ate a whole plate of baked zitti and he was fine. Just keep your eye on your baby. |

| I'm actually quite shocked at how many on this thread has had dogs eat large amounts of people food. How is this happening? I know the op said Kimbo got in the trash, but others? Like plates of food are just left out and dogs on tables or something. |

I can understand your furbaby tipping the trash can over by accident, but not eating plates full of stuff.

| I know that I myself am crazy about making sure Callie doesn't get human food unless I am giving her some fruits, veggies or some chicken. I would be going crazy if she had lots of human food like two pieces of pizza but I also know her tummy and know it would very very much not be happy with that and Callie is 16 pounds so I could not imagine the freak out I would be having with a smaller yorkie. I think its very important to make sure everything is doggy proof in your home and if you cant keep the door closed to that room keep them in a play pen. All it takes is one thing for them to get really sick from or hurt from.

| I hope the op's pup is ok! I have a dh who fees our dogs One was really sick a while back and I really tore into dh!! He always said he gave harmless stuff like veggies, tiny bits of chicken and the like but the time Sammy was ill he had given him a little bit of port loin. I was very scary when Sammy was sick so I hope dh learned his lesson.. just sad that one of our fur butts had to get sick for him to understand when I say NO listen!!

. My incident with Laddy happened when we had a huge family gathering and the kids ate in the living room, I was cleaning the kitchen and went to gather the dishes from there and found Laddy with the pizza. It was an accident and the kids were instructed before hand to never leave food where the dogs can get it but they are after all kids and get caught up in playing and forget.

| Accidents happen. I think the comment was more about people who regularly feed their dogs people food. These little animals are so cute and child like but they are truly dogs and will eat most anything that smells go to them. Of course they love the things that they are not supposed to have the most! Just like us people!Feeding dogs people food, and especially processed people food, can cause pancreatitis, bad teeth and obesity to name a few. It's bad enough that we humans eat things that are so unnatural, the pets sure do not need to suffer from the same things humans do. Some dogs have more sensitive digestive systems than others but none of them should be digesting processed human food even if they don't get sick. |

| Just wait it out. You'll know soon enough. The next thing that you'll need to consider though is when he asks you for some beer next time you leave pizza laying around. ;-) |

| After much coaxing to eat and drink, Kimbo hadn't done either since 4PM yesterday. I was able to get him eat some chicken late this afternoon. He won't drink from his water bowl so I've been holding up ice cubes to his mouth for him to lick. No vomiting or diarrhea. Actually...no poop at all. That doesn't sound right. He still seems eager to get his belly rubbed and wants to go for a ride. He's not really an active guy so it's hard to tell how he's feeling.

Just a few days ago, my 4 year old sister dropped half of her mini sugar cookie we had just baked (one of those pre-made kind) and before she could finish saying "uh-oh!" Jackson was ON it. Opened his mouth, it was gone lol... My brother dropped a slice of pizza once (thank god all we eat is plain, and it was also a Ledo's, so just a little square) and same thing. Jax got to it in like .02 seconds before my bro could even tell me to get him. He is extremely fast and will swallow food! He's got a really great "leave it" but that only helps if I'm there telling him to leave it, and physically SEE the food drop on the ground. And luckily my own siblings are very well trained not to give Jackson food and even my 4yr old sister always asks "Can Jackson have a piece of this?" before ever putting anything near his mouth, and we always have her sit up high when she's eating most of the time. It's not like he is getting this stuff every day. I am extremely vigilant when it comes to him and being around kids in general. I don't really know how I could be any more vigilant unless I was locking him in a crate while my siblings are home which is practically all the time and that's not going to happen! So I just do the best I can. Accidents will happen. And most of the time, everything will be fine. The time last year when he got sick was completely my fault, and I admit to being too lackadaisical with WAY too many people and children in the house. I should have been keeping a better eye on him, and assumed too much of my own family to NOT feed him! But then of course he was finding dropped things on the ground too. He doesn't ever go to a gathering that large anymore, unless he's leashed to me. But I am a far cry from a bad pet owner, and surely if I lived alone or just with a spouse, he 99.9% of the time would not get anything. It's a little more complicated living with others and having kids in and out.
