Yorkie Yakker | ![]() If I were u, if it happens again i would take the puppy to animal services and tell them if noone collects the dog then you would like to adopt him and ask how long they hold him for so youre there waiting to pick him up. Then theres nothing he can do from that point. Everything was done legally. ?? Good luck to you ![]() |

| ![]() I would do as some have suggested and ask the owner(s) if the would like to rehome him. I might also make animal services aware of the 2 incidents. At least maybe with something on the record, the next time something like this happens, some sort of action can be taken and maybe Choco can be taken away from them. Good luck.

| ![]() I certainly don't believe in stealing or keeping something that is not yours either, but, when they are not watched and cared for and let out to run free (to chase squirrels, no less) that to me is abuse. I think you should give him a good home either in a rescue or if you could take him and care for him. He needs to get away from the biggest squirrel he knows, that idiot owner. He sure is not caring wheather this baby gets hit by a car or whatever. He probably won't even check on him. Good luck and I hope that baby gets the home he deserves after living with that person. |

| ![]() I have made up my mind, if Choco comes back he will not be going back to his current owners. All of my co-workers are in agreement that he does not belong with them at all. I am kicking myself for calling them yesterday ![]()

| ![]() I had this type of thing happen to me, only it was a pug and it kept showing up roaming the streets near where I live. I tracked the owners down through some neighbors and found out they owned a small business in town. They used to tie the dog to a tree in their unfenced yard and go to work!!!!!! The third time I found the dog roaming I called Animal Control to come get it, since the dog was there before the fee was hefty to get him back, around $150.00 I called the guy and told him where the dog was and that he could get the dog and if he did and I saw the dog roaming I would do it again and again. I also called two rescue groups who said they would take the dog if he did not get adopted. I could tell from the way the guy sounded on the phone that he thought the dog was a pain and might not pick the dog up. He said he only got him for a daughter that did not take care of the dog like she said she would (big surprise there). He never did show up to collect the dog and after the waiting period the dog was adopted quickly by a family that had been looking for a small pug like dog. It's obvious that these people don't care about the dog, so like others suggested give the owner a call to see if he wants to give up the dog to a rescue type group. Perhaps someone else could make the phone call since like me you probably would have a hard time being civil to him. Like you said the next time might not have a good outcome and then you will be kicking yourself. Do you happen to know of anyone that would take the little guy?

I really can't be civil with them...I was barely that way yesterday when he called Choco stupid. If I hadn't been at work and in the lobby in front of customers IDK what I would have said to him...It sure would have been more than what I did say. I would have no problem finding Choco a good home.

![]() I have to be very careful of how I handle this situation, because I found out they are relatives to one of my co-workers. She even agrees though ,that they do not need Choco..he escapes even when they aren't aware. Who in their right mind would turn their baby loose when they know even if they don't intend to let him out that he will sneak and run away. I think I may have her ask them about selling or surrendering him before he gets killed.

| ![]() If it is truly meant for you to have this dog, you will find a legal way to do it. If you do just keep their dog without paying them or making some type of arrangements, you never know down the road whether that man may show up at the police department and swear out a complaint against you for theft - even making up stories you let it out! Or some co-worker who is agreeing with you now could turn you in should something arise with them down the road. I had a friend that something like this happened to and she didn't even have the dog in question but she had been very involved in trying to get the dog away from the bad owners and had taken it on occasion. She was suspected by the police of theft and things were very unpleasant for her for weeks! The bad owners kept harassing her, knocking on her door, yelling "give us our dog" through the door, following her. She had police visits & a call or two. Be careful when dealing with people like he sounds to be!
