Does anyone have a baby who sleeps late and is 12 weeks old or a little older? Do they sleep later as they get older? Thanks for your responses |

| Oh dear! Are you exhausted?!!? We brought Harry home at 3 months, and from the very first day we made sure we played and played and played with him during the evening. After he'd finished his shots, we let him run outside and really quite wore him out.... Now, he's a 'bigger' boy - so the 'being able to hold his pee' problem has never really applied - but we've always put him to bed about 10 p.m. - and he wakes up when WE wake HIM up. When he was tiny, I would get up and take him out for his pee - then put him straight back to bed As with babies, I think making sure they're full of good food, making sure they've enough to drink, and being totally worn out from their day is the way to make them sleep.... Good luck! Sally + Harry x |

| My pup, Olive, used to be the same way. She wouldn't go to sleep until 11/11:30 pm and would be up and ready to go at 6 am. I think it's just something they grow out of! Olive is going on 11 months now and will sleep until I get up in the morning! |

| I Remember Those Days! Bella was like that when she was young, up at 4:30 a.m. ready to go. We tried taking her out and then putting her back in her crate but I couldn't make it through the whining. I caved, I am so weak. Your puppy is very young and will sleep longer as it matures. The early days with a young furbaby are as trying as a newborn. Hang in there, it will get easier. Maybe some other "stronger" members can give you some advice. All I can offer is morale support! |

| I have a 9 wk. old pup named Kingston. Somehow we got really lucky because Kingston doesn't really whine that much at night but when he starts which is about 4:30 I take him out of his crate and take him outside for about 10 min so he can run around and do his business then I put him back in his crate and cover it with a small blanket so he knows it's time to go back to bed. So far it's worked?!? He goes right back to sleep until about 7am or later. Just remember to line a crate with the wee pads incase there's an accident so that you can easily slip a new pad in after you take him out and put him right back to bed. Good luck! |

| Another trick that may help is make sure you have toys in the crate as well. After a potty break and you put him back to bed he may occupy himself with toys instead of crying for a few minutes before falling back to sleep. ~Leanne N Kingston~ |

| Sugar used to let me sleep until 7:15 ~ 8:15 (with just a little grumbling) but since Curri came home......they both claim to be starving to death at 6am and I get the licking treatment FULL ON until I get up I have begun setting an alarm for 6:45 every day (the time I get up for work). If they bother me before the alarm goes off I ignore them. Once the alarm sounds, they both attack me On my days off, I then get up and let them potty and feed them while I sneak back to bed for another hour or so ***But this will not work with a 12 week old small puppy that needs SUPERVISION***

| Mine are real couch potatos most of the time so it does get better as they age. They will very much get on your schedule though. During the week I get up at 6 a.m. So on the weekend I have an alarm clock yorkie, Zoe is ready at 6 a.m. to go potty and eat breakfast and she tells you about it. Max is so laid back that he doesn't bark he just goes with the flow. There are very smart and creatures of habit, but very much worth it. Never a dull moment at our house.

| How old is your dog? I think it is pretty normal to expect a puppy to be up early and want to eat. The first year with a small puppy can be expected to be a very busy time with a lot of constant oversight and work. I did not crate train my little girl. She has slept with me from the first night. I kept a pee pad in the bedroom and would put her on it if she got up during the night. Once she was old enough to learn to do steps I got pet steps for her so she could take herself to the potty and then come back up on the bed when she was done. She is a good sleeper and usually slept through the night even as a puppy. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that she had someone to cuddle with and was content to sleep. She also likes to be warm so she prefers to stay with me. When she is up she is wanting to play. I take her for walks and play fetch with her. A tired puppy is a happy puppy. Help the little guy to run off his excess energy. I know that exercise at 4am does not sound like fun but if you really wear him out during the day and in the evening he is going to sleep better and longer at night. |

| Norman also did that when he was a young fella. Finally, we would let him out to empty his bladder and pop him right back into bed. He fussed but soon figured out that it was still sleeping time. One thing you should NOT do - and my husband can attest to this - is bring him into bed after he relieves himself. My DH did that, and was soon fully trained by Norman - who clearly preferred sleeping in the bed with us! Norman kept getting up earlier and earlier every day so that he could have a long ly in bed with us! Dogs are so smart!! |

| I think I would first consider the age of the dog. When Ziggy was younger we could not sleep past 6.. then he could stay until 9 (with a 4 am pee pee wake up break of course). Now, at a over a year old, he will sleep in with me until anytime, as long as we get up to pee, he's fine. Sometimes I get up before him and I'll also stay in bed with him until he's ready to get up.. He is a sleepy head. So I think age helps and also they learn your patterns and will adapt to that.. I should add that I have insomnia so we generally sleep late, when we sleep early we also get up early.

| When we brought our girls home I put them in their crate about 10.00 pm I left water a little kibble a couple if toys and a pee pad. They slept till7.30 before crying to get out. The kibble was usually gone the pee pad was used so I guess they were up earlier and fed and amused themselves for a bit. They are six months nearly now. I have stopped the kibble removed the pee pad but leave the water and toys in the crate. They sleep till about 8.00 am. We did go through a stage if getting up at 6.15 but this was after Zi removed the pee pad. I think they can wait longer now. It does get better. I agree with Sally tire them out before bed time and stick to a routine just like a skin kid.
