| Akc vs ckc We have a ckc male. I see more of the breed akc instead of ckc. If i was to consider breeding my ckc male to a akc female would we be able to register the litter? And with which club? |

| why are you ?? why are you seeing more CKC tather than AKC? It's a money thing. Alot of breeders with AKC breeding stock have registered their dogs with CKC because AKC charges for the puppies papers and CKC doesn't. Akc prices keep going up for registration of a liter so breeders have to cut cost somewhere. If you just want a pet akc, or ckc doesn't really matter. there are good ckc breeders and bad ones just like any other registry. |

Also I don't know of any reputable show breeders that would not register with AKC and would register at any time with Continental Kennel Club. Just the way it is. the only many breeders I know registering with Continental Kennel Club are puppy sellers, not those that are showing/breeding to the betterment of the breed or at least have that as their goal. There is a big difference.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Don't know for sure. You will need to contact AKC www.akc.org and speak with the registration person. doing what is best for your dogs has very little to do with a registry. It has a whole lot to do with how knowledgeable you are with Yorkies. The training, studying, and mentor you have in place to know what you are doing with respect to breeding. And fyi it is definitely not recommended to breed a female every heat. If that is what the two litters a year means. If you want to breed do it right. Champion your dogs. Do ALL the health tests, and know the health problems of the lines you are breeding into. If breeding is done right, there is little if any money to be made. Of course as you should know the market is a bit soft right now for sales of purebreds.

AKC does not accept Continental Kennel Club registry or records as bona fide. Both your pups parents must be AKC registered and not under limited registration if you want to use him at stud.

Breeding isn't something to be dabbled in. I am in contact with a woman who thought breeding her family pet for the miracle of birth was a great idea... She is now nursing her momma dog back to health after a dreadful (but miraculously nonfatal) case of eclampsia, while hand raising a litter of 7. And she now knows that she was damn lucky not to lose her childrens pet in the process. Breeding, without appropriate research and preparation- as is unfortunately very frequently the case- is often more of an ordeal than a wonder.

| Bellamarie, We do plan on having 2 females to breed per year and no i do not plan on breeding back to back heats that is to hard on any breed of dog. I used to breed bigger dogs AI & natural ties all done by myself pesonally. I am very experienced with dogs but going into a very much smaller breed i do plan on taking extreme caution and use me vets help. I just made my wife read our males papers to me cause i work out of state for long periods and he is AKC not CKC. The puppy for my daughter will not be bred to our male she will just be a pet for my daughter. We will not back out of the deal due to my wife's mistake it wold not be fair to the breeder in my opinion!!! So with that said we are on the hunt for an AKC female |

On the look out for two aka females then? Do you know what to look for in a breeder- specifically wanting a breed-worthy pup? Those can be hard to find! There are many resources here to help you with all of this, but remember that you will have a fair while to obtain the knowledge (at least two years!) so you will hopefully be fully prepared when the time comes. You know there us a high chance that your boy may not compliment your girls at all?

| OH YES I FULLY UNDERSTAND THE POSSIBILITY OF OUR BOY NOT CLICKING WITH A FEMALE. Before i bred and showed pitbulls for abkc. We put a few ribbons and trophies under there belts. I was really knowledgable when it came to them. I also know it will take research on my part to get a brain full about yorkies. We don't plan on jumping in head first it will be a slow process, it will be at least 1 to 2 yrs before we will consider knowing enough before attemting to call ourselves breeders. My vet is a personal friend and i have spoking with him before even purchasing our boy, to make sure we would have a vet on hand for any reason. He is very familiar with small or large breeds, so we feel confident in that area. I've been doing alot of research which led me to this forum and i will study everything that i can from here. |
