| ![]() I aggree that it is not anyone elses business. I am happy you are buying from a breeder. Too bad that some people think they know how to run other peoples lives. I have seen the other side too. At the Humane Society people complain about the adoption fees and Spay/Neuter they have to sign for when getting a young puppy. I have heard things like they ought to be free, and geeze they should be glad to find them a home. Why all the nosey questions ? And when I had a litter of puppies, I had a person tell me, "I will wait a couple of weeks, then you won't be so picky about who buys your puppies and lower your prices." Needless to say She did not, and will not ever get a puppy from me !

| ![]() I agree with everyone. Its your money!! Through some devastating circumstances, my husband and I are more financially set than my mother. Because of this, I felt like I couldnt even tell my mother about Bella and what DH spent on her. Sad, but true. After a while I was like "its my life, my money, my decision. I shouldn't have to hide her from the rest of the family! Bella is a part of my family!" Now when it comes to my brother-in-law, he thinks he runs the whole family....not true. I don't tell him how much she was. Its not his business. He doesn't pay my bills or mortgage, or even live with us! All he needs to know is that we care for her and she is ours.

| ![]() I agree that it isn't anyone's business, but I understand also that you don't want the grief from them. Unfortunately, so many people think they have the right to say whatever they want to people. It would be nice if they would just shut up or be supportive. Oh well, it is what it is. As for your puppy... well, it's money well spent for truly unconditional love! Enjoy your new baby!

| ![]() Wow the reponse I got on this is incredible. Thank you everyone! Its so nice to hear what others have gone through. This yokietalk forum is awesome. I love that I've found people who share the same love and care. My puppy isn't born yet, I'm hoping for a boy, but of couse a girl pup would be just as great if theres no boy. I'll share with everyone once he/she is born.

| ![]() I wouldn't feel pressured to tell anyone what you paid for your Yorkie. Do these people ask you what you paid for your car, your clothes, your dinner at a fine restaurant? Do they want to know how much money you make? Sorry, none of their biz! Regardless of which way you go, adopt, rescue or reputable breeder, bringing home a Yorkie, or any dog for that matter, is a labor of love. As I type, Bailey, who we adopted, is sitting on my lap asleep. His heavy breathing as I type each stroke of this keyboard puts a smile on my face that erased the potty mistakes he made this morning on the kitchen floor. They are so worth the price, regardless. |

| ![]() When I told my dad that I was getting a yorkie he was concerned about the cost as well as the size of the dog. He's a big dog person and felt that I needed a more "substantial" pet. There are many decisions I make as an adult that my friends and family don't necessarily agree with however it's my decision. I have to live with the consequences of it not them. So I understand that it is bittersweet that you're not able to share your joy with them, but don't not tell them for fear of judgement. Roll with the punches because everyone will not always agree with everything you do. Agree to disagree and stand firm with your choices.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | ![]() I agree that it is your hard earned money and how you spend it is your business and no one else. Don't let anyone get you down. They are well worth their weight in gold!!! We are in love with our new arrival and would of paid whatever it took to bring her home as long as we were able. We love her so much!!!! My family does know how much we paid for her, but no one has said anything. They all have been very supportive where I thought they would criticize, so I guess that goes to show that you never know. I hope people in your life will be supportive. Surely when they see how in love you are and how happy the Yorkie baby will make you, they'll forget all about dollar signs. Good luck and Congratulations! ![]()

| ![]() I also agree,it is nobody's buisness but yours and the breeder. I have actually had strangers ask me how much Suzi was, I thought it was very rude. nobody asks a person how much their house was do they? It is totally your choice and buying from a breeder is a smart thing to do.

| ![]() My Marley was free -- he was turned in at my office by a good samaritan who rescued him off the busy highway in front of the office. He's the most wonderful, well behaved, sensitive, handsome 9# Yorkie ever. Vet's guess at the time was 2 years old. He's now about 3 1/2. My Maxie is a wild man. Got him from a show home after he didn't make conformation. He's about 2, now 6# and Heck-on-wheels! I paid what I thought was a hefty adoption fee and drove hundreds of miles to pick him up. Money doesn't matter. I liked the comment from one poster that said the right answer to "how much did you pay for your dog?" is "Not nearly enough!" I wouldn't take a million for either one of them. |

| ![]() I get asked how much Rhia was when I tell people she's purebred. =/ It kind of..irks me. My first dog was a rescue and Rhia came from a breeder and I love both dogs dearly. While in the future I'd go rescue one, I don't care where you get your dog. Get a dog that makes you happy, treat it well, and live a long, happy life together.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() Just to play Devil's Advocate here: Why keep it a secret? In the end, aren't we doing a disservice to the breed when we hide it or lie about the amount? How often do we see threads starting with "I want to buy a Yorkie, but I won't pay more than $500..." Are we pushing buyers into the arms of very willing greeders when we won't tell people what a well bred Yorkie really costs? Just a thought.
