| Eek! I would def contact them then! I have one, and two of my friends have one. They are all the same "long" length, but the handles on one is bigger than the other two, and one has white interwoven into the retractable part, and the other two do not. I do see they change their product. Perhaps if you bring this to their attention they will upgrade the clips as well.

| I am happy that Teddy is ok. I have a retractable leash but very rarely ever use it. At the park one day there was a women with a large breed puppy and she was using a retractable dog leash and the dog pulled and the thick part of the leash pulled lose of the the thinner part that winds up in the handle and then the puppy was lose. It was scary because the puppy hadnt been taught to come yet so everyone who could was trying to get this puppy they finally did but it sure scared me from using the one I keep in Callies doggie bag.

| Nancy and Captnoonie (I'm sorry I don't know your name yet!) I just sent an e-mail to flexi. Thank you so much for your advice and concern. Poor Teddy hasn't been out since. I just bought a new leash but I am still...uneasy Quote:

| SO scary! I use a Flexi retractable lead for potty breaks. It's 26ft and a newer model, kind of a dark grey/black color. Never had an issue but he never really pulls. I will say I had one from Walmart and I believe it WAS a Flexi brand but it was shorter length... I think 16ft, and he saw deer outside when I opened the door and darted and the leash actually broke. Thankfully we live with 90 acres of farm behind us so not much to get into but I was still shocked. It said weight up to 25lbs!! But yeah I don't use the flexis in public places, just our house or a large open field.

| So glad Teddy's okay... sorry you are so upset... need I say 'been there, done that' lol! Maybe get a 2nd lightweight leash and use 2 at one time on him, backup for if one fails...

| I am so glad Teddy is okay and didn't get away or worse! This is one of my biggest nightmares. Was it the metal clip at the end that failed or some other part of the leash? I use a regular leash, but the clip that attaches to the harness looks exactly the same. Once when I picked up Max, I must have knocked the little thing that pulls the bar back and the leash disconnected from his harness. Luckily I noticed when I was putting him back on the ground.

| Flexi only guarantees their products for up to one year. I can send in my leash for a replacement (with my receipt) because I only just bought it in January, but just wanted to let you guys know in case anyone ever has an issue with flexi products.

| What a wake up call! We use flexi leashes everyday for walks, and usually save the others for focused training. May have to reconsider that. Iris slipped out of her harness once (not one we use anymore). So scary!! Glad everyone is fine. |

| That is my biggest fear that Scooter's leash or harness with come undone while we are on a walk. I actually check his harness and leash several times before we set out but who knows, it could break.

| That sucks that it happened on a Flexi, bc I don't think there is any other brand out there that is better than Flexi. If I switch brands it will be for the worse. I just love retractables and how much better Uni behaves when she is on one. Was it the metal spring loaded clip part that came undone, or was it another part?
