| Banning the dogs from my bedroom. Well I've finally had it! I've had my two pups in our bed with us since I can remember and I've finally had it. Every night I get horrible sleep anyways but it doesn't help that the dogs are up and down so many times waking me up in the night. they get off the bed and there is a loud THUD everything waking us up. We never know if the thud is for a drink or they need to go outside. Lately the dogs have both been jumping down mid-morning and peeing or pooping all over my bedroom floor waking me or Dh up with the sound of them scraping their feet after their business on the floor. It's frustrating me to know end to have to clean up poop every day and to be woken up over and over when I'm already having a hard time sleeping. I've decided the dogs need to learn to sleep in their own beds in the beautiful doggie tent and not with me and DH. we're pushed apart and never snuggle anymore and no one is sleeping soundly. time to move on with the baby coming who will need my attention and my bedroom more than the dogs do. I love my pups so much, but i cannot take it anymore. they are driving me batty when they bounce around on me while i try to sleep and keep jumping off the bed and then wanting back up again. Am I a horrible pregnant lady for wanting some sleep and peace? I think it's better to transition them now than after baby comes so they don't resent baby. Thanks for any advice. |

| Oh, honey, do what you have to do to get some sleep! Your babies will adjust - dogs aren't like humans and adjust to things without resentment or bad feelings. They may be stubborn at first and put up a bit of a fight because it is a big change but they will come around. If they understood, they would be the first to offer to sleep in their beds so mommie could rest.

| I don't think you are horrible ~ sounds like THEY are being horrible! Lucy sleeps with me but if she was waking me EVERY night ~ then that would get old fast. My bed is so high off the ground that she can't get up or down without help. She still has those rare nights when she whines to get down (I THINK she's going to find a toy or bone) then wants back up; then down, etc. Do what you have to do so that EVERYONE can get some rest.

| I dont think you are horrible! You need to get your rest (before that baby comes..lol..j/k) But seriously they will be ok. Foxy does not sleep with me, and shes ok with it. She has her own little bed and her space. Dont worry about them, they will adjust and be just fine!

| Aw Rachel, I'm sorry your babies are being little monsters. I agree with the others you need to do what is best for you right now. They will adjust! Plus it is better to get them use to it now so when the baby comes it should flow easier! I would hate to see you not do something about it, and then have to deal with those lil monsters when the baby is home!

| That stinks I would hate if Jackson was so restless all night - luckily he sleeps VERY soundly throughout the whole night and I actually miss him when he chooses to sleep on the floor. It sounds like you need to do what is best. Could you let them stay in your room, just put an expen for the two of them, or a crate? That way they won't feel TOTALLY kicked out.

| Rachel, don't worry about this at all! I am a SUPER light sleeper, so I can't have any of the fur butts sleep in the same room with me at all. Your doggies will adjust just fine. You need to get your rest while you still can!

| Rachel, you definitely need your sleep now, and once the baby comes you will need it even more. Sounds like a good move for many reasons to get doggies out of your bed/bedroom. If they have less room to roam and no access to food and water during the night, they will probably settle down more & have less pottying. I'm lucky my 4 sleep as soundly as I do until 6:00a.m.

| I think your doing the right thing to prepare them for the baby coming. They will adjust, I could sleep through an explosion, my kids always ask " mom how can you sleep when Laci walks all over you when your sleeping" I never wake up , if she has to pee she will lick my face over and over until I wake up. Get all the rest you need now you deserve it.

| so i never completely followed through on this. DH and i decided we'd try them in bed and if they kept jumping down they would go into the crates. well last night they got up when i got up to pee and bentley pooped on the floor AGAIN. this is happening too often. i'm really just upset that my dogs can't remember their potty training manners. i think it's down to re crating when i can't be watching them 100% of the time. they are naughty little boogers. i love them but it's stressing me out because i'm sick and exhausted and can't be cleaning up poop and puking my guts out at the same time. doggies will try their first night in their kennel together tonight. pray they are quiet about it. |

| Good luck Rachel. It's hard to keep on training them, but besides the inconvenience on you now cleaning up after them, you must be preparing for the future when you have your baby. You don't want to have any pottying on a floor that a toddler will be crawling and playing on.

No Longer a Member | Don't worry, you're not horrible for this, I had to ban my cat from my bedroom because he would never settle down and I wouldn't get any sleep. Plus if he wanted a midnight cuddle he'd put his face right next to mine and MEOW until I woke up and pet him. He's a total jerk, lol, but I love him, and to continue to love him I've locked him out of my room. He took a couple weeks to get used to it but now I sleep sound, and so does Rizzo...in fact I usually don't know where Riz is during the night until I roll over and he pushes me off him :P. Get all the sleep you need, because you need it! plus transitioning them now before baby comes is going to be much better, the less that changes when the skin kid comes the less they should dislike it...should anyway, yorkies are selfish little creatures when it comes to mom |

| I feel your pain....I'm going thru the same thing for years, but I usually catch them before they dirty things up, and get them outside. If I crate them, it doesn't help, they pee and poop in the crate. After they ruined our hardwood floors in the bedroom, we now keep them in the master bathroom while we're out...easier to clean up....which is every time we leave and come back....but they spend the night, for the most part, in our bed. |
