On that note, I'm 23 when I got my Yorkie and my husand is 27, and we both know darn well what happens when two hormone driven animals get together and the consequences (it's like high school all over again). So when it comes to blaming age for ignorance, that's like blaming misspelled words on my pencil and/or keyboard in this case. I think some people just enjoy the attention despite the downfall of others, or in this case the possible killing of a beautiful baby girl Yorkie. Sad but true!

| I am still really confused as to why the OP took offence to helpful and tactful advise. I'm also wondering how everything with Bee is going.

Haha- I'm only 19! I'll be 20 in September...and I am very sensitive. But even I didn't really see anything that would/should actually hurt anyone's feelings.

| i'm 23 now was about 21 when we got Sadie. and i can attest to the fact that youth makes you much more defensive when you feel threatened or attacked. even though the intention of the posters is nothing but love for your dog, you see it as an attack on YOU and i was there once and remember feeling threatened but it was my young age and lack of experience that made me so defensive. |

| I guess I'm different. I was very much tougher as a younger person. I've mellowed and become quite vulnerable as an older woman.

| I'm 20yrs old, got Jackson at 18, and never did I think I could allow him around an unspayed female in heat, or ever. He was neutered like a responsible pet owner does at an appropriate age. Then again, I'm in the rarity for people my age with pets... or people my age in general. I think most of the time young people with pets is not a good idea. I will never understand why it's so hard to get through peoples head how important spay/neuter is. And if you have reasons why you don't want to, you have to be 10000% responsible to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen. This doesn't even sound like any kind of precaution was taken, to be honest.... But I also realize everyone makes mistakes and I am just concerned for the baby. But I wanted to point out that this is why whenever we see threads where people say "Oh no, my dog will NEVER be around another unaltered dog- it just WON'T happen!!!"... and then it typically does. This is why the average pet owners should always S/N.

I was young and didnt know any better (maybe 19-20) and definatley didnt know anthing about breeding dogs and having a litter of pups. we lived in the mountians and the only vet around was a horse dr. i came home one day to find that my 6 month old female heeler who was in heat (in my fenced yard) had a male from a neighbor down the road tied to her.he had some how gotten in the fence. while she probably weighed 30 pounds and he was probably 50 pds, i didnt know there would be a problem if she did get pregnant. well she did. so about 60 days later she went into labor--i called the vets office and they said just watch her, she will be fine. 3 hours of heavy contractions i had to help get the first pup out, 3 more hours of heavy contractions the 2nd pup wasnt comming--i called the vet--they said she will be fine, just takes time. 2 more hours go by--the pup born dead.this was in the afternoon. heavy contractions went on all evening and no more pups were comming. i knew somthing wasnt right and she was having alot of trouble-i called the vet again, and asked if i could bring her in--they said she will be fine and if she hadnt had the rest of the pups by morning to bring her in. she cried all night and was in pain. i called them back and told them she was crying and nothing was happening--they said it was because se was young dog, and she will be fine. my beloved dog died that night in my arms with puppies still in her and i was left with 1 to raise ( a HUGE job in its self) i rased the pup and he was like having a real baby in the house-maybe more work than a real baby= i tell you this story because i wouldnt want this to happen to you. i was young, didnt know any better and had no one to tell me what to do. i only wish i had experienced people to guide me. dont rely on vets that dont know the breed. there was only 1 thing that suffered that night and that was my dog. and it all could have been avioded if i had her spayed early on the pregnancy. (spayed period) that was 25 years ago and her cries, and her death still haunt me. her death taught me a hard lesson. Do you really want something like this possibly happen to BEE? i wish i had someone be MEAN to me with advice and concern for my girl.

If this doesn't convince her to get Bee spayed, nothing will. Too sad.
