| Just thought this was interesting. I saw a PBS special on dogs recently, I watched it on Netflix. In the special, they said that the same hormones that bond a human mom to their newborn baby are released when a person is petting their dog. The dog has the same reaction to being petted. It really is you don't know what it's like until you have one of your very own, whether it be a skinkid or a furbaby. I don't know what it's like to be a skinmom, but I know that being a furmom is wonderful and indescribable in its own way.

Actually, DH is a little more reserved with kisses in front of anyone, LOL Must be a man thing. Believe me though, he is right there with Zhoie if I'm busy cooking or whatever. He's not fooling me one bit.

| I'm sure your son said those things because he loves you, and since he doesn't understand, he's worried about you. I'm sure he meant no harm, but I wouldn't have been pleased either. Most people don't get how much our pups mean to us, but honestly, they don't really have to understand. If Zhoie is making you happy and you are content with spending the time you do with her. that's all that really matters. You should not have to justify your feelings or actions. To me, there is no risk involved in completely surrendering our hearts to our little ones. Even when it's time to say goodbye, we are so much better off having shared our lives with them and given our hearts to them. It must be wonderful having all of the cards that you received. I can imagine the joy you felt when you opened each one of them. Spending time on a forum with people who share a common interest, who truly understand how you feel about your little girl, is completely harmless unless it prevents you from functioning and fulfilling other responsibilities. That does not seem to be the case at all. I know there are people in my life who were worried about how much our lives revolved around caring for Ashley. It was genuine concern for my husband and me, and not just judgment. Honestly, I wouldn't care if it were judgment because I didn't expect many people to understand. What mattered was that we were doing things the way we wanted to do things and we did what we felt was right for her and us. We would be the first to admit that we were obsessed, but it harmed no one. We just felt so much happier having our little girls to love, even though we made many adjustments in our lives. Follow your heart. Loving freely and giving of oneself is never a bad thing. Your little one has taught you what unconditional love truly means, and that's what she deserves from you. To attach anything negative to loving completely like that is very wrong. You will have these overflowing, wonderful feelings for Zhoie your entire lifetime. I think only goodness can come from that. I am very glad to have "met" people just like you on YorkieTalk, and I'm glad that you and Zhoie are here. |

He is a lot like his dad was, such a great sense of humor. I am glad he understands about the pups. They fill my life with a lot of love & laughter. Can't imagine my life without them.

I am very thankful they have their pups -- I think they are such nurturing people, they cannot imagine a life without little ones to care for.

| I like the comparison another member had in another thread it hit home here pretty hard... "I thought when my children out grew the toddler phase I would be able to go to the bathroom by myself..then I got my Yorkie!" |

| I feel bad that your son said anything to you. What he doesn't understand, IMO, is how easy it is to be "obsessed" about something that can make you laugh as often as a yorkie and bring so much joy to your life. A day doesn't go by that my dogs (my IGs are rather comical too) don't make me laugh. People get obsessed about many things they enjoy and I don't understand. Like golf, a football team, motorcycles, or any number of other things, and those aren't even warm, living things. Add to that the fact that there is a WONDERFUL social network of other yorkie lovers you've met here on YT who share your obession. Just don't tell your son you're leaving everything to the dog, not him.

| My husband used to think the same thing until Speedy and Toby came along. He was used to having big dogs and just recently admitted he has become a small dog lover. These two are spoiled rotten! Hubby is even going to make them an oak dog bed and has been looking on line for ideas. I never thought I would see this day come! LOL
